Lincoln Half Marathon Traffic Information Summary – Sunday 2 October, 2016

Lincoln Half Marathon – Sunday 2nd October 2016 This document outlines details of the road closures and diversions that will be in place on the day of the event.

Key Notes:

• The event will be delivered by OSB Events, with support from Lincoln City Council and Lincolnshire County Council. • If this document does not include the information you require, please email [email protected] • There will be around 3,000 runners taking part in the event, with approximately 4,000 spectators expected. As a result, the roads are likely to be busier than normal on the day of the event. If you have any planned journeys, please allow additional time. • The majority of pavements on the course will be open as normal. There are two areas on the course where there will be restricted access on footpaths; the first is between Carholme Road and Campus Way on Brayford Way, and the second is between Water Lane and Brayford Wharf North, where participants will follow a barriered section of the course. Access under Wigford Way and Brayford Way flyovers will be restricted.

Car Parks:

• Access to County Hall car park from Newland will remain open, but vehicles will only be able to exit either left onto West Parade, or right onto Orchard Street towards Newland. • Access to Lucy Tower car park will only be possible from the West onto Newland. • Orchard Street will be closed at West Parade from 08:00 until 12:30; therefore, access to Orchard Street/City Hall car park will only be possible from Newland. • Beaumont Fee will be closed at West Parade from 08:00 until 12:30; therefore there will be no access to Beaumont Fee car park.

Access and Egress from North Carlton Between the hours of 0600 - 1300 the B1398 will be closed to traffic heading towards Lincoln; however, residents can exit left towards the A1500 (Till Bridge Lane) and return via the same route. Access and egress from Broxholme is unaffected.

Access and Egress from South Carlton Between the hours of 0600 - 1300 the B1398 will be closed to traffic heading towards Lincoln; however, residents will be able to exit the South Carlton by turning left onto the B1398 towards the A1500 (Till Bridge Lane); and return via Burton village from the A57 at Burton Waters, turning left onto the B1398 towards South Carlton.

Access and Egress from Burton Village Between the hours of 0600 - 1300 the B1398 will be closed to traffic heading towards Lincoln, however residents will be able to exit and return to the village via the A57 Burton Waters roundabout. There will be no right turn onto the B1398 towards Lincoln; all vehicles will have to turn left towards the A1500.

Access and Egress to Burton Road (inside the A46 Flyover) Between the hours of 0600 to 1300 Burton Road will be officially closed, although there will be managed access onto Burton Road as outlined below: City Bound side – Prior to a full closure at 09:00, vehicles will be able to turn left onto Burton Road towards Lincoln. As soon as the last competitor has cleared Burton Road (at approximately 1030), vehicles will again be able to turn left onto Burton Road and follow Yarborough Crescent to Newport Roundabout; where they can either exit the City via Riseholme Road, or follow the diversion into the City Centre. Residents off Queen Elizabeth Road will be able to exit and return via Riseholme Road. Dunkirk Road – Vehicles can exit during the managed times above, and return via Queen Elizabeth Road, turning left onto Burton Road then left back into Dunkirk Road. Outbound side – Prior to 10:15, vehicles will be able to exit Northbound towards Burton village, turning left at the traffic lights to access Lincoln via the A57 at Burton Waters. Return to properties on the outbound side of Burton Road will only be possible when the road reopens after the last runners passes at around 12:15.

Yarborough Road / Yarborough Crescent / Newport Area Yarborough Road is closed from 08:00 to 12:30; Yarborough Crescent and Newport are closed from 08:30 to 11:15. During these closures, residents enclosed within this area of the course will have controlled exit points available at Vere Street (onto Newport and Broadway); and Upper Long Leys Road onto Long Leys Road. Prior to 10:00 we recommend exiting via Upper Long Leys Road, as there will be runners on Newport until at least 11:15.

Lincoln Half Marathon Traffic Information Summary – Sunday 2 October, 2016

Newport, Bailgate, Minster Yard and Lincoln Castle Newport will be closed from 08:30 to 11:15. Residents in adjacent streets can exit onto Newport up until the road closure at 08:30; however, there will be no return until the road reopens at 11:15. BaiIgate and Minster Yard will be closed from 04:00 until 11:15. Residents in Chapel Lane can exit via Westgate, Burton Road and the controlled exit from Upper Long Leys Road, across Yarbrough Road to Long Leys Road. Residents in East Bight can exit onto the Bailgate until 08:30, and leave via Westgate, Burton Road and Upper Long Leys Road, as above. Castle Square and Lincoln Castle will be closed from 04:00 to 11:15

Union Road and Carline Road Union Road and Carline Road will be closed from 08:30 until 12.00, however up until 10:00 residents will be able to exit by turning right onto Yarborough Road and then left onto Long Leys Road. After 10:00 there will be no exit onto Yarborough Road until it reopens at 12:30; however, access to Burton Road will be available when Union Road reopens at 12:00

Yarborough Road, West Parade and The West End Yarborough Road will be closed between 08:00 until 12:30, and there will be no access from any adjoining roads on the west side, including Hampton Street and Long Leys Road. Eastbound vehicles on West Parade will be able to turn right onto The Avenue and return via a left off of The Avenue. Other exit roads from West Parade onto Carholme Road are unaffected. West Parade will be closed to Westbound traffic at Beaumont Fee. The Avenue will be closed Northbound at its junction with Yarborough Road from 08:00 to 12:30; however, residents on Victoria Terrace and adjoining streets can cross Yarborough Road under Marshalls supervision, and exit South onto the Avenue from 08:00 until 09:45. Access to the City via Brayford Way is unaffected, although we would recommend allowing additional time as there is some traffic management in place on Newland as this will be closed at the junction to Lucy Tower Car Park. Newland will be closed at its intersection with Wigford Way and Beaumont Fee from 08:00 until 12:30, but access will be open for Lucy Tower and County Hall car parks.

Diversions Full diversion signage will be in place around the City, please ensure you follow the signage.
