(All ISS Facility Services Landscaping except Squadron Leader Carrie-Anne Rossi) Five ISS Facility Services Landscaping employees are celebrating after successfully achieving their Lantra approved ISS Grounds Maintenance Practical Skills Award. The candidates - Gerard Wilkins, Adrian Nicholls, Joshua Grafton, Keith Higgins and Trevor Windsor - all based at ISS‟s RAF Fairford contract in Gloucestershire, were formally presented with their certificates by RAF Station Commander, Squadron Leader Carrie-Anne Rossi. ISS first launched this in-house award in April 2011 to address the lack of opportunity in the industry to develop purely skill based training, to continue the company‟s commitment and investment towards employee excellence, and to give a real set of industry transferable skills. To date more than 150 personnel, covering all four ISS Regions, both new starters and existing employees, have taken-up this opportunity. Staff qualifying for this award will have completed a six unit module which gives them basic understanding of Health & Safety, enables them to perform basic border maintenance, turf maintenance and hard surface maintenance tasks; operate hand held machinery and perform basic planting and aftercare tasks. The individual units have been developed to allow everybody, irrespective of ability and experience, to benefit from this practical based training. Phil Jones, Managing Director, ISS Facility Services Landscaping tols The Landscaper „ISS is the first and only company to deliver this type of training in-house. We believe that setting standards will show demonstrable benefits to our clients, our staff and the grounds maintenance industry. Advantages will include providing a standardised service delivery, encouraging staff retention, enhancing production and delivering key skills to specification. Today has been a shining example of the success of the programme and to the dedication and commitment of those receiving their certificates.‟ Tel 0845 057 6600 ext 6213 • ISS Facility Services Landscaping contracts cover the whole of the country, employing over 1500 core and 100 seasonal staff who operate from over 40 depots and offices
