Several summer Jr. Team Tennis programs are in the works and hopefully will come to fruition: North Central Non-Advancing Summer Jr. Team Tennis League, Warren Central Summer Jr. Team Tennis League, Rockville Indiana Summer Jr. Team Tennis League, and Five Seasons Summer Jr. Team Tennis League. The 2015 Jr. Competition Handbooks can be accessed on the Jr. Tournaments page of the Central Indiana Tennis website. We have dropped these off at local clubs along with extra copies of our Junior Tournament Card, which helps parents and players through the ins and outs of a junior tournament. The Jr. Tennis Committee finalized the selection process to be used in the 2015 Cup Team Selections, and the Cup Team Applications are open for registration in TennisLink. Cup Team Coaching information and applications were distributed to TD’s, High School coaches, and posted on our Facebook and website. Adult Tennis February is all about promotions for the spring and summer leagues and events. Adult Summer League posters and flyers are out in the clubs and on the website and summer registration for teams is open March 1st. USTA Adult 40 & Over Winter leagues and Adult 55 & Over leagues are under way in Indianapolis. Numbers are similar to last year’s participation numbers at this time. We are seeing slightly less court time being given for USTA winter leagues than last year. Karen and Toby have been focusing on making the one day World Team Tennis Showdown a success. In preparation for the event on Saturday, May 2nd, the duo have consulted the Adult League Committee and formulated a sponsorship incentive program. Local businesses will receive various levels of recognition and exposure to tournament participants in exchange for a donation whether it be monetary or in the form of gift certificates or merchandise. IHSTeCA coaches convention CITA was graciously invited to speak at the annual Indiana high school tennis coaches convention on February 6th at the Five Seasons Racquet Club. Toby Gaynor presented information on our high school USTA league preview nights and on utilizing high school courts for summer leagues. Jennifer Moe offered information on our local Spring Junior Team Tennis leagues and encouraged coaches to run pilot entry-level tournaments. CITA Meetings We look forward to seeing you on Saturday, February 21st at the USTA/Midwest Section offices for the CITA Management and Board Meetings.
