Since 1954, Cox Industries has been a leading manufacturer and distributor of treated outdoor wood products for the residential, commercial, industrial and utility markets. Headquartered in Orangeburg, SC, this family-owned and operated company produces a variety of quality wood products—for decks, fences, framing, utility poles, cross-arms, docks, retaining walls foundations and other outdoor construction projects. Our Founder WB Cox built his business on personal relationships with his employees and customers. 60 years later and after turning over the reins of the business to the 3rd generation of the family, his commitment to community has never been stronger. Now in his late 80s, he can be found weekly cooking and serving at the First Baptist Soup Kitchen and Cox Industries donates more than a $250,000 annually to local charities and youth sports teams. Well over a half million

dollars has been distributed to employees’ children, who are entering college. He has donated land to Habitat for Humanity and that focus on charitable contributions is built into the culture of his employees. For more than 9 years the employees have raised the funds, built, furnished and dedicated a home in Orangeburg County for Habitat for Humanity; complete with Christmas gifts for the family. Although he prefers to support the community anonymously, his impact is recognized in more than dollars and cents. The Orangeburg County Community of Character Initiative
What does it take to be a value to our community, our employees and our shareholders? Cox Industries has long been concerned about our impact on our communities and the environment and that concern has been seen not only in product and service innovations but in our relentless research into safer and more efficient ways to produce our products. Involvement with Green Globes, Green Guard and EPA WasteWise programs, products receiving the Good House Keeping Seal and Energy Star Ratings and our six decade long commitment to purchase wood from well managed Pine Plantations (recently documented by SFI and FSC® certifications) are just the surface of our sustainability initiative. For our customers sustainability means we are supplying the most efficient and effective building materials available and we stand behind the commitments we make on service and quality. It also means we are up to date on current certifications and practices, which allows them to participate in sustainable building projects. But most importantly, sustainability means we stand with our customers to improve the products and services that will help them build their business.

For more than six decades WB (Bill) Cox Sr. has been serving not only the building and construction communities in SC, but the communities in which we live and work.
