Models: Float 18, Float 36, Float 22, Float Throttle, and Float 32 Trigger Upgrade Instructional Video: www.backcountryaccess.com/customerservice/triggerupdate Remove the old trigger 1) Make sure the trigger and air hose have been disconnected from the Float cylinder. 2) Open the airbag compartment and unpack the airbag. To do this, pull apart the breakaway zipper under the Velcro flap at the top of the airbag compartment. 3) Using a Phillips screwdriver, remove the small screw that attaches the trigger cable to the webbing loop inside the zippered pocket on the shoulder strap. 4) Pull the trigger cable, by the trigger handle, out the shoulder strap zipper. If there is resistance, you may need to guide the other end of the trigger out of the backpack. Take note of the trigger’s layout in the pack before pulling it out so you can replicate it when you install the new trigger. Install the upgraded trigger 5) Starting at the shoulder strap zipper, thread the trigger cable, leading with the end opposite of the trigger handle, back into the pack. 6) On the Float 36 the trigger cable is fed directly from the shoulder strap into the cylinder compartment. Ensure the trigger cable is not placed over the airbag components. See below picture for correct routing.
7) On the Float 18 the trigger cable is fed through the shoulder strap, under the airbag components and into the cylinder compartment. Ensure the trigger cable is not placed over the airbag components. See below pictures for correct routing.
8) On the Float 22, Float Throttle and Float 32 packs, feed the trigger cable through shoulder strap and then under the airbag components, as shown in the below pictures. Next, feed the trigger through the opening in the bottom right corner of the airbag compartment that leads into the compartment where the cylinder is stored.
CORRECT INCORRECT
9) Once the trigger cable is routed correctly back into the Float backpack, re-‐connect the trigger cable assembly to the shoulder strap by re-‐installing the screw in the webbing loop on the inside of the shoulder strap. Warning: The airbag may not deploy if the screw is not installed properly. 10) Confirm that the trigger cable has been re-‐installed correctly by pulling down on the trigger handle and noting that it is connected to the shoulder strap webbing.
