Recap: Courtsey of TrumanBulldogs.com ST. LOUIS – A furious Truman comeback ran out of steam as the Bulldogs fell to the University of Missouri-St. Louis on Thursday night 62-56 in Great Lakes Valley Conference action. A 17-2 Triton run midway through the first half gave UMSL a 24-9 and the Bulldogs had to play catch-up from that point on. McKenzie Russell provided a first half spark for Truman knocking down two of three three-point attempts off the bench and Michalina Tomczak tallied 11 first half point as the Bulldogs got within nine points at 35-27. UMSL kept Truman at arms' length most of the second half until the Bulldogs made a push with under seven minutes to play. Allie Norton started a 9-0 run that was followed by another triple from Russell and Tomczak's only shot of the second half to close to within eight at 56-48. Tierra Snow stopped the Bulldog rally briefly but Norton dialed from three and knocked down a pair of free throws to pull Truman back to seven with 2:46 left. Snow made two from the stripe but Russell hit her fourth three of the game to bring Truman to within six at the 2:11 mark. That would be the last points for the Bulldogs as Amber Daly scored and the Tritons converted on all six free throw attempts to close the game on an 8-0 run. Tomczak led Truman with her second double-double of the season with 14 points and 10 rebounds and was joined in double-figures by Norton and Courtney Strait's 13 points apiece and Russell's 12. The Bulldogs shot 37.7% from the field and 30% from outside. Kelly McGovern and Kelly Kunkel paced the Tritons with 15 points each while Snow added 14 points. UMSL shot 47% for the game and won the glass over Truman by eight, 35-27.
