Go . . . 1. Cut out either the front or the back of a cookie box (Samoas, Tagalongs, Do-si-dos, Trefoils or Lemon work best. We do not recommend using Thin Mint or Thank U Berry Munch boxes for this craft). Save the rest of the box to make additional cookie box crafts. (One box will make 2 notepads, 1 mini notepad and 1 bookmark!). 2. From the bottom of your cut-out, measure 6 1/2” up and 3 1/4” from the left for a 3“ Post-it pad, OR 7 1/2” up and 3 3/4“ from the left for a 3 1/2” notepad. Draw lines for each, and cut at these lines. NOTE: This assumes you are using a 1/4“ H pad of paper. If you use a full Post-it note pad, you will need to add 1/4” to the height measurement. 3. Gently fold your cut-out in half, forming a 1/4” spine at the top center section. (If using a full Post-it pad, your spine will need to be 1/2”) The side that shows the cookie pictures and name is the top cover of the notepad. 4. Select your notepad graphic, and cut it to the size of your pad of paper. 5. Glue your notepad graphic to the inside front cover of the notepad (the side opposite the cookie pictures). Glue it on so that you can read the graphic when it is flipped open. 6. Use the colorful tape to create a border around the entire cover (center the middle of the tape on the edge of the cover, and fold it so that half the tape is on the inside and half the tape is on the outside. Also run a piece across the lower edge of the graphic. 7. Glue the back of the pad of paper inside your notepad cover. (Glue it to the lower half, which is the inside of your back cover) Girl Scouts® and Girl Scout Cookies® are registered trademarks of the Girl Scouts of the USA and are used pursuant to license. Pencil box Cookie Box Craft
Little green creations
This colorful, easy to make “pencil box” will remind the girls of great cookie selling techniques every time they open the lid! It can be used to store anything from pencils and school supplies, to hair bands and accessories, or store pictures of Girl Scout friends!
Get Ready . . . • One empty Girl Scout cookie box (TIP: It works best if the top tear strip has not been pulled. Open box at bottom, instead) • Markers • Glue • Scissors • Paper • Hole Punch • Hair Elastic • Brads (traditional or decorative) • Clear packing tape • Colorful electrical tape or Scotch® Decorate and Repair tape
Get Set . . . • Open the cookie box at the bottom. Do NOT open the top!! • Empty the contents of the box
Go . . .
• Cover the top of the box with clear packing tape to reinforce it. • From the bottom, with the box on its side (wide side up) cut the two short ends and only ONE long end, to create the lid to your pencil box.(refer to above picture) • When you cut the short end at the bottom, one of the flaps will fall off – save it for later. • Now take the remaining three opened tabs that you opened (at the bottom) and fold them back into their original/natural positions, (like they were before you opened it). Take the flap that was cut off and put it back in place. • Use the tape to cover the bottom of the box and hold it all in place • You should now have a “closed” box with only one opening flap on the biggest/widest side of the cookie box (see photo above) • Cover the cut edges of the cookie box with colorful electrical tape. • Punch a hole at the center of the lid, near the front edge • Insert a hair elastic through the hole. Then pull one loop through the other and pull tight, per photo >> • Close the box and mark a dot where the bottom of the loop falls • Insert a brad at the dot. Secure back of brad with tape. Pull elastic over brad to close. • Cut a piece of paper to fit the inside of the box lid. Suggest to girls that they write cookie goals, or selling techniques, or simply decorate with cookie art. Glue inside lid. • Optional: Cover box in clear packing tape, for a more durable, finished looking box Girl Scouts® and Girl Scout Cookies® are registered trademarks of the Girl Scouts of the USA and are used pursuant to license.
