TU HOLLOWAY

XAVIER SENIOR GUARD 2011-12 ALL-AMERICA CANDIDATE • PLAYER OF THE YEAR CANDIDATE • Tu Holloway is a candidate to become Xavier’s first two-time (also referred to as Tu-time) All-American since 2003 National Player of the Year David West. • Tu Holloway was a 2011-12 Preseason All-American, including Athlon Sports First Team and CBSSports.com Second Team. • Tu Holloway was a 2010-11 Third Team All-American selection by Associated Press, Sporting News, Basketball Times, SI.com, CBSSports.com and FoxSports.com among others. Holloway, Jordan Taylor (Wisconsin) and Jared Sullinger (Ohio State) are the only returning 2011 AP All-Americans. • Tu Holloway is a two-time (yes, Tu-time) Bob Cousy Award nominee, an award given annually to the top collegiate point guard. • Tu Holloway is on target to finish among the top scorers and assist leaders and as the all-time best free throw shooter in school history. He is the only player in Xavier history to have recorded more than one triple-double. • Tu Holloway and the Musketeers are looking toward their seventh straight NCAA Tournament berth and their 11th in the last 12 NCAA Tournaments. XU made the Sweet 16 his freshman and sophomore years and the second round in his junior season. • Tu Holloway, 2011 Atlantic 10 Conference Player of the Year and A-10 All-Defensive Team member, and the Musketeers are shooting for a sixth straight Atlantic 10 Regular Season Championship. • Last but definitely not least, Tu Holloway is on target to become the 84th straight Xavier men’s basketball student-athlete who has played as a senior and earned his college degree.

“Tu Holloway is the most exciting guard to watch in college basketball.” Jay Williams, ESPN analyst and former National Player of the Year at Duke “Tu Holloway is the best scoring point guard in the country! He really understands how to be aggressive offensively while at the same time keeping his teammates involved. Late clock, late game situations and you really need a basket, Tu Holloway is your guy.” Hubert Davis, ESPN analyst and former UNC All-American “Tu Holloway has matured into one of the most dynamic players in college basketball. Tu will remind old school hoops fans of Tim Hardaway.” Fran Fraschilla, ESPN College Basketball Analyst ``What Tu does have is all the intangibles. He’s able to make his teammates better, can score the ball when necessary - and most of all, he wants to win above everything else.” Jeff Goodman, CBSSports.com Senior Basketball Writer “Whenever I watch dynamic point guard Tu Holloway, I think of 2004. That’s when a playmaking spitfire by the name of Jameer Nelson grabbed college basketball by the throat.” Dana O’Neil, ESPN.com

JORDAN CRAWFORD 2010 NBA FIRST ROUND DRAFT PICK Jordan Crawford, who was drafted in the first round of the 2010 NBA Draft, is now playing for the Washington Wizards. The 2010 NBA Draft marked the second straight year that the NBA selected a Xavier standout in the annual draft. Crawford led Xavier to the 2010 NCAA Tournament Sweet 16.

4 4

DERRICK BROWN 2009 NBA DRAFT PICK Derrick Brown was drafted in the 2009 NBA Draft by the Charlotte Bobcats and is now playing for the New York Knicks. Brown, who graduated from Xavier in May of 2009, is the latest in a long line of former Xavier power forwards that is making his mark in the NBA.

5

JAMES POSEY TWO-TIME NBA WORLD CHAMPION James Posey signed with the Boston Celtics in August of 2007, joining other heralded newcomers Kevin Garnett and Ray Allen. Posey and the Celtics went on to a 6616 regular season record, winning an Eastern Conference Atlantic Division Championship. With the help of several clutch shots by Posey in game six of the NBA Finals against the Los Angeles Lakers, the Celtics went on to win their 17th NBA World Championship. Prior to joining the Celtics, Posey was a part of the 2006 NBA World Champion Miami Heat. Posey teamed with All-Stars Dwyane Wade and Shaquille O’Neal to win Miami’s first NBA title. Posey signed with the Indiana Pacers in 2010.

Xavier’s success in developing NBA players is undeniable. From All-Stars to World Champions to recipients of the NBA’s J. Walter Kennedy Citizenship Award, Xavier’s NBA roots continue to grow deeper. Over the last several seasons, representatives of nearly every NBA team visited the Xavier campus for either a practice or a game.

“IN FOOTBALL AT PENN STATE YOU HAVE LINEBACKER UNIVERSITY, AT USC YOU HAVE RUNNING BACK UNIVERSITY…AT XAVIER YOU HAVE POWER FORWARD UNIVERSITY.” REGGIE MILLER, NBA ANALYST

POWER FORWARD UNIVERSITY XAVIER’S NBA ALUMNI Reggie Miller is not the only NBA expert that recognizes the impressive track record of Xavier in producing NBA power forwards. Players like David West not only make the league but stick around for long and successful careers. Brian Grant (right) played 13 NBA seasons, while Aaron Williams (left) logged 14 NBA seasons. Tyrone Hill played 14 seasons and Derek Strong played 10 seasons in the NBA. The list goes on and on and, in addition to West, should include other current NBA players like New York’s Derrick Brown and Indiana’s James Posey.

MEN’S BASKETBALL PROGRAM RANKED AMONG THE NATION’S ELITE

XAVIER EARNS TOP 10 RANKING AGAIN FROM BASKETBALL TIMES The Xavier University men’s basketball program is once again ranked among the “Top 10” programs in the United States, according to the Basketball Times rankings. In fact, the study, which BT has done every five years since 1997, shows that XU is one of only four men’s basketball programs that have ranked in the “Top 10” in 1997, 2002 and 2007. The other three programs are Duke, North Carolina and Kansas.

COLLEGE BASKETBALL’S TOP 20 MOST VALUABLE PROGRAMS

Xavier has become a regular in the major national polls, including being one of only five schools that have been ranked in the final Associated Press Poll each of the last four years: Xavier, Duke, Kansas, Purdue and Pittsburgh. Xavier finished a school-record eighth in the 2008 Final ESPN/USA Today Coaches Poll and a school-record 12th in the final Associated Press Poll in 2008 and 2003. The 2003 season was the senior year for David West, who was the 2003 National Player of the Year. Xavier was ranked 15th among “College Basketball’s 20 Most Valuable Programs” by Forbes.com in its 2010 rankings.

STATEMENT WINS NATIONAL LEVEL NON-CONFERENCE WINS Xavier has played and beaten a long list of traditional powers from all of the major conferences in recent years. That’s one of the main reasons Xavier has maintained a lofty RPI rating and earned strong seeds in the NCAA Tournament, including a number three seed in 2008 and a number four seed in 2009.

26

ELITE SCHEDULE & EXEMPT EVENTS BEST SITES AND OPPONENTS Xavier will test itself again against many of the nation’s best, including road games at Memphis, Vanderbilt and 2010 and 2011 National Runner-up Butler. Xavier hosts Gonzaga, Purdue, Georgia and Cincinnati. Xavier played in one of the elite neutral site events, the Paradise Jam in the U.S. Virgin Islands, last season and will play in the Hawaiian Airlines Diamond Head Classic this season with potential games against the likes of Clemson, Kansas State, Auburn and Hawaii. ESPN’s Dick Vitale commented that: “Xavier has a great schedule again.” Next season, Xavier will play in a tournament in Puerto Rico against another elite field.

“Chris Mack has done a masterful job of not only keeping Xavier atop the A-10 but also ensuring that the Musketeers are the barometer for the rest of the league to follow in terms of players, support, facilities and at times most importantly – wins.’’ ANDY KATZ, ESPN.COM SENIOR WRITER “I am a big admirer of Chris Mack. He is very smart and good natured, yet he is also a really intense competitor that will not settle for less than the highest standard. Chris Mack is a winner on and off the floor.” JAY BILAS, ESPN BASKETBALL ANALYST “Chris Mack is the ideal guy for Xavier, a former team captain who brings great leadership skills.” DICK VITALE, ESPN/ABC ANALYST “I sensed when Chris Mack was an assistant coach that he possessed all the attributes to be a star in this profession. His combination of maturity, communication skills and knowledge of the game makes him one of the great young college coaches in the game.” FRAN FRASCHILLA, ESPN COLLEGE BASKETBALL ANALYST

“In two short years, he’s quickly become one of the top young coaches in the entire country. I believe what sets him apart is his versatility - his passion, ability to coach, recruit and connect with young players. It’s rare in this day and age to possess all those attributes. Mack has proven he can coach and handle all the rigors that go with being the head coach of one of the elite programs in the country.” JEFF GOODMAN, CBSSPORTS.COM SENIOR BASKETBALL WRITER

CHRIS MACK A COMPETITOR AND A WINNER

“Chris Mack is a local guy with a great and engaging personality, a head coach with the hustle of an assistant, a rising star in this business.” GARY PARRISH, CBSSPORTS.COM COLLEGE BASKETBALL ANALYST

During his 12 years on the staffs at Xavier and Wake Forest, including these past two seasons as the Xavier head coach, Mack has coached on 11 teams that have made postseason play, including 10 teams that have made the NCAA Tournament field.

“Chris Mack has won championships at Xavier as a player and as a coach and I know he wants to continue to raise the bar for the program. Coach Mack has a passion for Xavier and the basketball program. He is an aggressive competitor who hates to lose. We have a lot in common in that way.”

“I am proud to say that Chris Mack and I are both proud Xavier University alumni. I am excited that Chris is the head coach at Xavier because I know he has a passion for Xavier and for winning. Xavier taught me a lot about winning championships. That winning Xavier attitude has served me well during my NBA career.”

“Winning mentality.’’ TRAVIS TAYLOR ON WHAT HE ADMIRES MOST ABOUT COACH MACK

“Coach Mack is a great teacher and he’s always been a great friend and mentor to me. He made me a better player and a better person. Players love to play for him because he is passionate about their development and the success of the team. He is also very personable. But what makes him great is his competitive nature. He demands a competitive approach at all times. If you like to win and hate to lose, you’ll love playing for Coach Mack. I’ve known Coach Mack since I’ve been in high school. I’m just grateful that we are still good friends to this day. I root for Xavier partly because I have so many connections like him and Coach (Skip) Prosser, and Coach (Jeff) Battle. I’m teammates with David West and I’ve played with James Posey and Aaron Williams too. Mainly I root for Xavier, though, because I want Coach to do well.” CHRIS PAUL, THREE-TIME NBA ALL-STAR, SEEN HERE IN THE XAVIER LOCKER ROOM WITH MACK DURING A RECENT VISIT TO CINTAS CENTER

CINTAS CENTER COLLEGE BASKETBALL’S TOP ON-CAMPUS ARENA Cintas Center has seen almost 1.7 million fans pass through its gates since opening in 2000. The support they’ve brought has helped Xavier compile a 149-18 (.892) record in 11 seasons at Cintas Center, including 40 straight Atlantic 10 Conference home victories. On game night, anyone in attendance feels lucky to be a part of it. “The atmosphere is electric baby,” said Dick Vitale during a broadcast from his courtside seat. The atmosphere got another boost of energy last season with the new scoreboard and ribbon board system in Cintas Center. This season Xavier installed a brand new playing floor. Add a home schedule against the likes of Purdue, Gonzaga, Georgia and Cincinnati, and the arena atmosphere will be electric.

32

A TOUGH TICKET COLLEGE BASKETBALL’S BEST HOME COURT ADVANTAGE It’s a tough ticket. Xavier has already seen about 1.7 million fans pass through its gates since Cintas Center opened for the 2000-01 season, including 99 sellouts and an average of 10,035 fans per game over 11 years at the 10,250-seat facility. XU has won 89.2 percent of its games at Cintas Center. It’s no wonder college basketball fans voted Xavier’s Cintas Center third among the “Toughest Places to Play” in college basketball in an EA Sports online poll.

ELITE BECOME CHAMPIONS STATE-OF-THE-ART WEIGHT ROOM IN THE CINTAS CENTER Xavier’s strength and conditioning program is among the nation’s elite, whether preparing athletes for Xavier basketball or a professional basketball career. Xavier’s success developing its athletes begins with a program that maximizes each athlete’s physical potential. Even though the Cintas Center is already considered one of college basketball’s newest and best on-campus facilities, Xavier’s athletic program continues to increase its investment in the strength and conditioning program.

The Nike NTS Contract, which covers customized uniforms, gear and equipment, is the highest level of Nike Contract you can obtain without winning a basketball national championship. There are 30-35 schools at this level currently, including Texas, Pittsburgh, Villanova and Georgetown. XU is in its 11th season with Nike, the official outfitter of the 2008 Olympic Gold Medal winning U.S. men’s basketball team. For the sixth straight year, on “Throwback Night” Xavier will wear a throwback jersey designed by Nike to commemorate a past Xavier team. Tu Holloway is shown wearing last year’s throwback jersey.
