October 7, 2016 Dear Parents/Guardians: We have the opportunity for our students to participate in a Canadian Red Cross First Aid Course for students in grades 4, 5, 6, and 7 called ‘PeopleSavers’ level 3 combined with the Kids Safety First: At Home All By Myself Workshop. Both programs are taught through interactive activities and instructed by Catherine McEwen, a certified Canadian Red Cross First Aid Instructor and Training Partner. These programs will give your child the confidence and knowledge to handle emergencies but more importantly recognize unsafe situations and know what to do. The topics covered in the First Aid course are; what’s in a first aid kit, calling EMS, emergency action steps, scrapes, cuts, wounds, nose bleeds, heat burns, choking, allergies – epipens, and poisons. The At Home All By Myself Course teaches the participants how the rules change when home alone, the home alone checklist, things that the children should and should not do when home alone, and much more! Canadian Red Cross First Aid for Kids Course and Kids Safety First At Home All By Myself Course Thursday, November 10, 2016 **This is the Mid-Term Break Early Dismissal Day** Kingsway College School 12:30 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. $35.00/student - includes Peoplesaver booklet, wallet card, and Kids Safety First At Home All By Myself booklet (Payment will be applied to your student billing account)
Students will need to bring their own lunch that day as there is no Real Food For Real Kids. The class size will be maximum 35 students and registrations will be accepted on a first-come-first-serve basis. If you are interested in this course, please fill out the registration form below and return it to Mrs. Drummond on or before Monday, November 7, 2016.
