Turk Player Responsibilities Daily responsibilities 1. Be on time to every class, meeting, bus departure, and game. 2. Be in the best physical condition you can be in. 3. Manage your time wisely. 4. Take good care of yourself. 5. Make responsible decisions. 6. Always be positive toward your teammates. 7. Represent yourself and your school in a positive light at all times. 8. Learn to take coaches comments and decisions in a constructive way. 9. Accept criticisms in a positive manner especially from your teammates. 10. Have a goal of the day, every day to help keep yourself focused. 11. Always look the coach in the eye and listen to what they are saying.
Use athletics as a release from the stresses of the day, not the cause of your daily stress. Work together as a team and not an individual. Your attitude on and off the court affects others around you—make it a positive one. Compliment one another and pick each other up-it will go a long way. Earn your playing time. Don’t expect it. Do whatever it takes to make the commitment to be at every practice and game. Bring your best to the floor every game, both physically and mentally. If you are sick or injured, you must find your coach before you leave the building and let them know. A note will not be acceptable. 9. If you are going to miss a practice or a game be prepared to accept the consequences.. 10. When you are not in the game and on the bench, be an active participant and always be ready to enter the game if called upon. TURK PLAYER EXPECTATIONS I.School Handbook and Athletic Code Policies For any violation, all school policies already in place will be enforced. II.Bus Policy 1. We arrive as a team and we should make all efforts to leave as a team. Parent’s must sign their daughter out before she can ride home with them after a game. A note must be written if the athlete is to ride home with someone other than the parent. Each player will be allowed one excused bus ride home from games, other absences will be considered unexcused. I believe that traveling to and from road games is a great time for a team come together and bond. 2. If you miss the bus, you do not play in the game. You are still expected to make an effort to come to the game and be part of the team. III.Attendance Policy
1. Missing a practice will only be excused by a doctor’s note, illness, trainer recommendation, or death in the family. Failure to comply will result in diminished playing time at the coach’s discretion. We have all made a commitment to each other and to the program and have a responsibility to our teammates, coaches, and school. 2. Please inform your coach of any absence with as much notice as possible. a. Missing practice at any time will lead to diminished playing time at the coach’s discretion. 3. Tardiness to home games will result in a loss of playing time at the coach’s discretion. 4. Missing a game will require the athlete to earn back the position they gave up. Athletes will not immediately return to the role they had before the game missed, they must earn it back in practice. 5. D-Halls are an unexcused absence and are not tolerated or expected from an athlete. A player must inform the coach of a D-hall prior to practice. 6. Injuries will not be reason to penalize an athlete. Injured athletes are expected to still attend practice and have limited participation. IV.Unsportsmanlike Conduct 1. Players who receive an unsportsmanlike penalty will have a loss of playing time at the coach’s discretion. 2. Ejection from the game also means a game suspension from the next game at that level. We have all made a commitment to OUR TEAM, OUR TEAMMATES, and OUR SCHOOL. We have the incredible opportunity of starting the winning traditions of Girls Sports Programs at Tremont. My intentions are for all of us involved to have fun experiencing athletics, learn how to win as a TEAM, improve our individual skills, and take from the game some lessons in life.
