Tutorial: Lumberyard objects Lumberyard has three object types, which encompass every object that can be placed in a level:   

Entities - Objects with behavior properties. The behavior properties enable objects to respond to game events via game scripts or code. Brushes - Objects with 3D mesh data only. Brushes do not contain behavior properties of an entity. Whitebox Designer objects - Objects that have been created with the Lumberyard Whitebox Designer modeling tool (these are similar to brushes).

Placing objects To place objects: (1) In the Rollup Bar, click Brush to display the assets you can add to the level. (2) Under the heading Browser, in the folder tree, expand objects/styletown/architecture/props and select streetlamp. (3) Drag the word "streetlamp" into the Perspective Viewport.

(4) Click Brush again on the Rollup Bar. From the same Styletown folder, open natural/terrain and click and drag the object road_14x14 into the level. (5) Position the road under the streetlamp. (6) Click Brush again and, from the same Styletown folder, open natural/vegetation and drag into your level any of the tree brushes listed. (7) Save the level file.

Moving, Rotating, and Scaling entities Now that you have several objects in your level, you can use the Select, Move, Rotate and Scale tools to manipulate those objects. You can select these tools from the Editor toolbar, as shown in the following image.

Each tool provides its own unique 3D handle, called a gizmo, on the selected object. This helps you identify the tool you currently have selected. The following images show the different gizmos that appear on an object for each tool selected.

Try using these tools on your objects: (1) Select the streetlamp that you placed. (2) Select the Move tool. (3) Click and drag the X or Y arrow on the gizmo to place the streetlamp on one side of the road. (4) Select the tree you placed in the level and move it near to the streetlamp and road. Your scene now looks similar to the following image:
