Sunspeed 1-‐Two Lite Sports car written Explanation Executive Summary Sunspeed 1-‐two refers one car, two lives. By owning one road-‐car comes in a reasonable price, the customer can have a super sports car experience in the same cockpit by hiring a sports car powertrain. With the modular design technology and Electromagnetic force connection, the cockpit and the wheels is separated. And benefited from the electromagnetic force technology, the car doesn’t need any drive axles or brakes. This could help to achieve the lightest unsprung weight. Both driving and braking are controlled by the force field generated by the cockpit and passes through the magnet induction ring without any physical connection. Using fiber reinforced polymer structures as exterior materials to reduce the weight of the car. Also using transparent solar panel as windscreen to reduce weight. Weight Reduction Methodology 1.Lightest unsprung weight. With no brake system, no suspension and even no hub, the unsprung weight can be well controlled. With only a set of mecanum wheel and a magnet induction ring which passes the power generated inside the cockpit. Induction power train With the help of electromagnetic force, the 4 wheels and the cockpit could achieve a balance between attraction and repulsion that can stick them together tightly. And also it will be very easy to switch between 2 different powertrains because there is no physical contact. Autonomous wheel: Each wheel would be able to navigate itself with a intelligence system same as an autonomous car. So the switch between 2 different powertrains can be done automatically.
Transforming process 2.Fiber Reinforced Polymer Structures Polymer is much more cheaper than carbon fiber and it weights almost same as carbon fiber. By developing a winding technique for modular, double layered fiber composite structures, can reduces the required formwork to a minimum while maintaining a large degree of geometric freedom for designers. It can also be used as a panel on the outside of a building working as a window, or a cell phone display panel, which means it can be used to provide energy to power a cell phone a or supply building. Because it is transparent, which means it could be used in many applications just like windows but provide extra power comes from sunlight. This creative material is developed by a research team in the College of Engineering at Michigan State University. They described the new type of solar panel as a transparent, luminescent solar concentrator. Richard Lunt, one of the developers, mentioned that “transparent” is the key word. In a transparent, luminescent solar concentrator, the luminescent layer is the active layer and it does not absorb or reflect visible light, andbecause of that, the
material is transparent. Small organic molecules that absorb certain nonvisible wavelengths of sunlight were used in the material. Specifically, ultraviolet and infrared wavelengths are absorbed and then the energy that is emitted is in the infrared region. Infrared energy is also called heat. The human visual system cannot perceive ultraviolet and infrared wavelengths. The emitted infrared energy is converted to electricity by very thin photovoltic material that is embedded in strips. Customers can buy a normal powertrain and a cockpit car for daily using if they can’t afford the supercar powertrain. However, they can hire a supercar powertrain when necessary. They can enjoy the supercar experience on the track with a very low price and in their own cockpit. With the help of electromagnetic force, the 4 wheels and the cockpit could achieve a balance between attraction and repulsion that can stick them together tightly. And also it will be very easy to switch between 2 different powertrains because there is no physical contact.
