Exchange Students go abroad for a full semester taking courses in their academic disciplines UC has over 50 exchange partners worldwide Independent experience Students pay fee equivalent to in state arts & science tuition

Types of Programs International Co-op and Internships

•Students can fulfill their co-op credits abroad, if they are a co-op major •Non co-op students can take advantage of international internships through ProPel •Available during the fall, spring and summer semesters

•Students can go abroad through an organization partnered with UC •Programs are offered in the fall, spring and summer •Students can take courses in their academic discipline •Some cost less than UC Tuition

Misconception: “Studying Abroad is too expensive” • Study abroad can be affordable • Several programs are equal or less than a semester at UC • Financial aid can be used for most study abroad expenses • Students work closely with advisers to make the best financial and academic decision

• UC International awards over $800,000 in scholarships every year

Misconception: “Students can only take classes in English Speaking Countries” • There many opportunities to study in nonEnglish speaking countries with courses instructed in English • Often professors lead students to nonEnglish speaking countries and are the translators

• Opportunities are available for language learning students as well

Misconception: “My major is very specific. Are there really study abroad options for me?” • Students from every major study abroad

• UC International advises based on colleges to help students determine what program is best for their major • Some are more difficult than others, but many programs are open to the entire university • Students from all academic backgrounds can benefit from studying abroad

Misconception: “It’s too dangerous to go abroad right now” • Many countries and cities abroad are just as safe, if not safer, than US cities • UC International only partners with trusted universities and organizations

• We keep up-to-date on world events and utilize a variety of resources to stay informed on risk and safety abroad • Students learn in the Pre-Departure Sessions best practices for staying safe abroad
