Understanding the Importance of Light Spread:

25º Spread

Tresco vs. the competition

Any puck style under cabinet light should be 90º or better to avoid spot lighting.

9 Lights required

In the competitor cases noted here, both would be considered spot lights with only 25º and 45º spreads. When looked at further, in the case of the 25º light, each one needs to be spaced a MAXIMUM of 8” apart and the 45º light would ideally need to be placed 12” apart.

This is a great example how narrow beam lights produce higher foot-candle (FC) readings but limited coverage (think flashlights) and why simply choosing by higher FC readings and ignoring the beam angle is a huge mistake.

When compared to competitor lighting options using a 120º Tresco 3W provides 127 lumens to their 28 and 70 lumens (25/45º). This allows Tresco 3W pucks to be spaced 20” apart resulting in no visible scallop/shadows, creating continuous lighting illuminating the entire surface and backsplash.

7 Lights required

When using 120º Tresco 3W fixtures only 5 lights are needed to illuminate the countertop; 45% less than the competition.
