Uniform & Equipment Policy September 2013 - July 2014 Oathall is a “uniform” school. All students wear uniform without exception. A uniform helps to give unity and identification to a school; it can make less obvious the different circumstances of families and is a protection for both parents and students from the temptations of temporary extremes of fashion. Those parents who might experience financial difficulties should not hesitate to contact the College. The College would see it as reasonable for a particular item or appearance to be allowed if it is a requirement of a faith or culture. This would be unless the item or appearance compromises the learning or health of the student or others. We are grateful to parents for their full support in seeing that high standards are maintained in the wearing of uniform. Our students have considerable pride in the membership of this College: their co-operation with parents in this matter is indicative of that feeling. All students are expected to be in full uniform each day and the College reserves the right to decide when an item of uniform or appearance does not conform to our policy. We ask parents to provide a written note or contact a student’s group tutor if there is a temporary problem with uniform or appearance. Where no reasonable grounds exist students can expect a consequence which may involve being provided with a correct item of uniform for the day or with parents’ knowledge and approval being requested to return home to change, with missed school time being made up. Refusal by students to comply with such requests or persistently not abiding to our uniform expectations can be subject to formal College sanctions. Our College Uniform Suppliers are: In order to comply with our policy we recommend that standard uniform items not purchased from our preferred uniform suppliers are bought from the school uniform departments of high street retailers or supermarkets and not from fashion retailers. · ·
