U6 Rules & Regulations Revised 4/27/2014
Players • • •
Players must be on approved USL rosters to participate and have a USL Liability Waiver and the Player/Parent Concussion Information sheet signed and dated on file. Shin guards must be worn at all games. Players will NOT be able to participate without them. A size 3 ball will be used for the games.
Teams •
A team will have 10-‐12 players on their roster. Teams will split into 2 teams (Apples and Bananas) on game days and play on 2 different fields. Coaches should do their best to make the ‘Apple’ team the one with the players who are playing at a moderate to advanced level, while the ‘Banana’ team should consist of the players who seem to be more timid on the field. This will allow the most touches for every player, while still challenging the aggressive ones.
Coaches •
Coaches will be given 2 PUGG NETS(portable goals). They will set them up on one field while the opposing coaches will set up the other field’s goals. You will then divide the team into two teams. Each of the ‘2’ teams will play on different fields. Please arrive early so your game field is set up and ready to start ON TIME. Have a parent assist you managing the other field. Coaches should substitute players evenly to ensure that all players have equal playing time. DO not allow players to stand in front of the goal in the crease. (NO GOALIES!). Encourage them to get involved in the game.
Playing Rules • • • • • • • •
Normal fouls per FIFA rules. Playing field will be approximately 20-‐30yds long x 15-‐25yds wide Games will consist of 2 (20) minute halves with a 5 minute halftime. No goalkeepers or defenders standing in front of the goal. Encourage them to get the ball! After a goal is scored there must be a kick-‐off to restart the game. All free kicks are indirect. A goal may NOT be scored directly from a kick-‐off. All restarts for the ball out of play can be taken as a pass-‐in or a dribble-‐in, except corner kicks must be passed-‐in.
• • • • •
All penalty kicks will be taken from mid-‐field. All players must be behind the kicker (open goal with no goalkeeper). The play is live once the ball is touched. Opponents must be 5 yards away from all restarts. Goal kicks are indirect and must be taken inside of the goal crease. Teams may substitute ‘on the fly’. Extra Player – Teams may add an extra player on the field for every 4 goal deficit and must remove the extra player(s) when the goal differential drops below 4 (for each additional player on the field). For example, if Team A is winning against Team B 8-‐2, Team B will have 4 players against Team A’s 3 players. If Team A is winning against Team B 10-‐2, Team B will have 5 players against Team A’s 3 players. If the score changes to 10-‐5, Team B will remove 1 extra player and play with 4 players against Team A’s 3 players, and so on.
The Parents •
• •
Parents should refrain from ‘coaching’ from the sidelines during the matches. Your player will be given the opportunity and even encouraged to make mistakes in an effort for them to find solutions to on-‐the-‐field problems THEMSELVES! Individual development is our ultimate goal. Scores and standings will NOT be kept. Have FUN and encourage your child after every match!
Game Cancelations •
All games will be played as scheduled unless: Lightning, field conditions, or player safety is compromised. We DO PLAY IN THE RAIN and the COLD so please dress your child accordingly. Please refer to the league website for game cancellation information. (www.soccermacomb.com).
