CHARLES HASELTINE O ne of the most enjoyable occasions w hich U nity Society has p a rtic ip a te d in w as given W ed ­ nesday evening, Ju n e 16th, at the hom e of M r. and Mrs. W a lte r D avis, 2816 B enton Blvd. O ur young b rid e a n d groom had re tu rn e d from th e ir honeym oon trip , and the o pportunity was seized upon by our hospitable frien d s, M r. and Mrs. D avis, to te n d e r a re c e p tio n to these young voyagers on the m atrim onial sea. T h e spacious p a rlo rs of the D avis' beautiful hom e w ere filled by th e m any friends, a n d th e re was a fine display of p re sen ts w hich ev idenced the love and esteem in w hich this young couple a re held. T h e m em bers of the W om an's A uxiliary gave a linen show er to the bride, a n d each class of the Sunday School, in w hich B lan ch e Sage H aseltine has so long b e en a m em ber a n d a w orker, rem em ­ b e re d h e r w ith a b e au tifu l and a p p ro p ria te gift. T h e re w as plenty of m usic to a d d to the pleas­ ure of th e evening, and the young people enjoyed gam es of all sorts. R efresh m en ts w ere served in the dining room w hich w as b e au tifu lly d e co ra te d w ith daisies. M any w ere the good w ishes w hich w ere show ­ e re d upon C h a rle s and B lanche, and if love can m ake th e ir sea of life sm ooth they will n e v er experience any storms.

T hese letters go to all p a rts of the globe, carry in g en­ lightenm ent a n d e ncouragem ent to p ersons seek­ ing the sp iritu a l ways of life ; they p e rta in to healing a n d education, answ er questions and sug­ gest the lines o f thinking th at w ill be the most help fu l to the individual to whose advancem ent th ey a re d ire c te d . T h a t this work is approved by the L o rd of L ife is abundantly testified in the m any w ords of g ratitu d e receiv ed from those who h ave b e en b rought from sickness to health, from m en tal dark n ess to the understan d in g th at reveals th e glory of G od in the p re sen t m om ent of living. E veryone is good, but some know better than o th ers how to express goodness. M rs. Fyke has no m onopoly on these things, but she certainly has com m and of n early all the ways ot showing kindness. T h e flowers of the g arden and the fru its of the o rc h a rd w hich h e r loving hands b rin g to S ilen t U nity a re fitting represen tativ es of the sp irit that anim ates all h e r deeds.

If At First You Don’t Succeed, Try Again T h e collection fo r incid en tal expenses last Sunday, Ju n e 13, was $5.46, a gain of 78 cents over the last y e a r’s average. T h e w ord has been sent forth th a t this envelope collection shall be $20.90 each Sunday. L e t us m easure up to it. It makes the individual expense v ery light w hen all co-operate. 10 cents eac h w ould do it. F o r the past six o r eight y e a rs U nity Society has given annual picn ics on the F o u rth of July at B udd Park. In d e p en d e n ce D ay com es this y ear on Sunday. Vegetarian meals are served three times a day in the Unity Inn. Break­ fast at 8, Dinner at 12:15 and Supper at 6. Sunday Dinner is ready directly after the morning service.
