field notes THE GOLDEN AGE

In a well-balanced room, a little gold goes a long way; tip the scale too much, and you can suddenly feel as if you’re swimming in an ocean of bling. Which is why we’re so in love with the subtle burnished details on Ebanista’s latest collection of furnishings. The neoclassically inspired line—which includes a canopy bed with reeded posts, a mirror that’s wreathed in carved acanthus leaves, and a sofa with pretty fluted legs—features wooden elements that have all been treated in silver or gold finishes and distressed to look as though they’ve gained centuries of patina. Against creamy neutral upholstery or an antiqued mirror, the look is simply perfection. CLOCKWISE FROM FAR

MADE TO MEASURE

Yves Delorme is revitalizing the art of the trousseau with couture boutiques within its New York, London, and Paris flagships. The bespoke service offers a fully personalized suite of linens, with options like embroidery—delicate fernlike sprigs, swirling flowers limned in golden thread—and flourishes such as recherché Chantilly lace. But these are heirlooms for the current age: Other adornments include graphic geometric flourishes and refreshingly sharp linen appliqués. 1070 Madison Ave., New York City; 212-256-0926. CLOCKWISE FROM NEAR RIGHT: Merveilleuse sheet and pillowcase, from $2,395 for a queen set. A mother-ofpearl button. The New York couture boutique.
