GAMEDAY (Dec. 1, 2017): The Engineers (3-1) make their home debut with their first Liberty League game of the season as Clarkson (2-2) visits East Campus Arena. FIRST AND LAST: RPI and the Golden Knights will not only begin the league slate against one another, but will also end it on the same floor, February 17 in Potsdam. FOUR STRAIGHT: Rensselaer traveled to Cobleskill, the Roger Williams University Tournament and The Sage Colleges for its first four games ... In going 3-1, the Engineers outscored their opponents, 264213, an average of 66.0-53.3 per game. LAST TIME OUT: On the Tuesday before Thanksgiving, Tom Horvat scored 20 points, Andreas Kontopidis tallied 16 and Mitchel Wayand had 10 as RPI defeated The Sage Colleges, 75-53 ... Horvat finished with a game-high 20 points, after adding 15 points in the second half to lead RPI, which held a 39-32 lead at the half and had a commanding edge on the boards (24-13) ... Sophomore Kevin Davis finished with 15 rebounds (5 off.) with a pair of assists, steals and a block ... Kontopidis added four rebounds, four assists, two steals and two blocks. JANUARY 6, 2017: RPI outscored Clarkson 41-16 in the second half, led by Tom Horvat’s 15 points, and the Engineers came back from a 17-point halftime deficit to defeat the Golden Knights, 62-54 ... Horvat had a team-high 20 points with six rebounds, three assists and two steals ... Nate Kane added 10 points, while Marcus Giese had seven points, six rebounds, an assist, a block and two steals ... Derek Hart had 23 points with 13 rebounds, two assists, a steal and a pair of blocked shots ... Mike Hayduk finished with 12 points. JANUARY 28, 2017: Sophomore backcourt mates Liam Ellis and Malaquias Canery combined for 32 points on 12 of 17 shooting to lead Clarkson to a 74-65 win over RPI ... The Engineers were led by Andreas Kontopidis, who scored 20 points in 27 minutes off the bench, while Brian Hatcher added 19 points on 8 of 11 shooting ... Ellis scored 16 points and added six rebounds and six assists, going 6 of 8 from the field ... Canery had 16 points, shooting 6 of 9 from the floor, while Derek Hart put up 14 points with nine rebounds. CLARKSON TO DATE: The Golden Knights have alternated losses and wins through its first four games ... It lost to Bridgewater State before beating Green Mountain ... Clarkson then lost to Oswego and beat SUNY Potsdam ... This game in Troy is the first outside of Potsdam for the Knights.
