The following statistics are from the state of Texas (as of July 11). 1519 Homes Affected 881 Occupied by Home Owner 115 Occupied by Renters 277 Mobile Homes 689 Single Family Units $4,146,363 Unmet Need (After Fema & Insurance) This number could reach $8 to 12 Million
In the recovery effort, GCBA churches have been asked to help in the following areas: Volunteers Donations Emotional and Spiritual Care
We are currently finishing the Clean Out Phase and are moving into the rebuild phase of this recent flooding event. In this issue of the Breeze you will see some stats on the devastation that was experienced in our county. We are told that our area was the worst hit of any of the floods in Texas. We were also told that resources are limited because of all the damage that has been experienced in Texas this year. The flood is out of the headlines but there are many who are not yet back in their homes and they will need our help. Please ask your church to set aside funds to help some of these families rebuild. You also need to line up volunteer to help rebuild. You guys have done great in cleaning out, using your buildings to serve as shelters, housing out of state clean out teams, providing meals at Holiday Lakes Church for the volunteers and residents, for donating money and goods to give to these families and for your personal ministry to those folks affected by the flood. I hope and pray that many will come to know our Lord as a result of your acts of love and kindness. I know that we are all so burdened by the state of our country and world. There seems to be no good news out there. I believe that we are reaping what we as a society have sown. We have moved away from God and His rules and we are now experiencing lawlessness. Let me caution all of us not to deal with the symptoms and deal with the real cause. Jim Slack, former IMB Vice President once said, “Unregenerate people will always make bad decisions.” The real problem is that people need Jesus. He will change hearts and those changed hearts will produce new life styles. “If any man be in Christ he is a new creature, old things are passed away and all things are new” 2 Corinthians 5:17. God did not send His Son to make bad people good, He sent His Son to make dead people live.” You and I need to tell this dark and dying world that there is a Light and His name is Jesus. Don’t be distracted by the symptoms and focus on the real problem. Donald
