USB Stick Encryption To encrypt or not to encrypt? If you never want to save anything to your USB Stick you can use it in Read only Mode by clicking Close

If you would like to be able to save files to your USB stick you will need to encrypt it, to do this click Encrypt. You will only need to do this once for each USB stick you have.

Encrypting your USB stick If you see this window ensure “Automatically backup and restore the data” is selected then click Next.

If you see this Window you will need to manually backup your files to your computer before clicking Next.

If you chose not to back up your files you will lose everything on your USB stick. Setting a password On the next screen you will be prompted to choose a password. This password will be unique to your USB stick, and will be required whenever you use your USB stick away from the network. Using an Encrypted USB Stick at Home Once a USB stick has been encrypted you will not be able to access your files when you’re away from the network without entering your password.

If you receive this prompt then all you need to do is enter your password for your USB stick to work as normal.

If you are not a local administrator of the computer you will not see this prompt. You can still access your files by opening the USB stick, running the AccessSecureData program that is stored on it and then entering your password in the dialogue box that opens.

You will now be able to access your files. Unfortunately if you had to run the AccessSecureData program you will not be able directly modify files stored on the USB stick. To get around this you can open files, save them to your computer and then copy them back onto the disk. Forgotten password If you forget your password you can reset it from any computer on the network by navigating to My Computer, right clicking on the USB Stick and selecting the Set Device Password option.
