USTA TN Jr Pathway Coordinator Position Description Objectives: To increase opportunities for entry level players to become exposed to tennis through schools and after school programming. To bridge the connection between the USTA TN schools program and after school instruction and training opportunities. To promote, develop, and connect fun competitive events for entry-level players including Festivals, PlayDays, JTT and Entry Level tournaments. To develop and communicate a clear pathway of participation for entry level players in Schools, After School programs, Parks and Recreation Depts., Community Tennis Associations (CTA) and private facilities. To increase participation in USTA junior Tournaments by improving the base of ROGY advancement opportunities. To offer supplemental training to 10&Under players through camps, programs, and events for additional exposure. To provide better customer service for the entry level player/parents and USTA programming. To promote and grow tennis to its highest potential in the state of Tennessee.
Summary of Initial Responsibilities: 1. Increase PE programs/After school programs in the Tennessee School system by working with local partners to gain access to schools, conduct workshops, and organize follow up for continued programming. 2. Connect the schools programs to after school training opportunities by coordinating efforts with local facilities, parks and rec departments, and coaches. 3. Assist in the recruitment and training of volunteers for additional mentoring and coaching opportunities for all player pathway programming. 4. Develop and assist facilities and CTAs to organize entry level play opportunities for the beginner junior base through Festivals, Play Days, and Entry-Level Tournaments. 5. Provide a clear pathway for entry-level players to advance to higher levels of junior competition.
6. Support and work with the TN TSR, JTT State Coordinator and Director of Junior Tennis to promote schools, After-School programs, JTT and entry-level tournaments to the beginnerintermediate player base. 7. Assist as needed in other aspects of player development by providing support to teaching pros, coaches, recreation directors, and junior players in the USTA player pathway. 8. Manage budgets for programs. 9. Provide customer service for advancement to parents, players, tournament directors, LLC’s, and others as needed to connect the new player with further play opportunities. 10. Work with USTA TN Committees as assigned. 11. Work with STA and USTA staff as needed. 12. Attend allied organizations, recreation and leadership workshops, USTA, USTA/Southern Section meetings and USTA TN meetings/ Collect articles and photos for the www.ustatn.com and other pertinent publications. 13. Perform other duties as from time to time as needed by coworkers or volunteers.
Minimum Qualifications Strong Computer Skills. Working Knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Access, Power Point, Outlook and Word Good organizational skills
Tennis Background Required
Proven ability to plan, manage and execute multiple tasks simultaneously and on a deadline
Strong customer service skills
Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing
Available to travel throughout the state and the flexibility of schedule to do so as needed
Must be USPTA/PTR certified
