UWF Intramural Sports Indoor Soccer Rules 1. All players must have nautilus card or government issued photo ID to play! Players must be on their team's IMLeagues roster to participate. 2. A team will consist of 4 players. A game may be played with 3 players. A 4th player, if added, must be on the whistle only. Teams must arrive 15 minutes before their scheduled start time. Game time is forfeit time. If your team does not arrive by game time, the Supervisor will forfeit your game. 3. Teams consist of 4 players, but a game may start with no fewer than 3 players. The minimum to continue is no fewer than 3 players. 4. Teams must wear the same color shirt, or else pinnies will be provided. A designated goalkeeper must wear a shirt that is different in color from his/her teammates. 5. Shin guards are not mandatory, but players are strongly recommended to wear them. 6. Proper non-marking soled sneakers must be worn at all times. Wearing of hats and bandanas are prohibited, as well as jewelry such as necklaces, rings, bracelets, or anything that is deemed dangerous to participants. 7. The game will consist of two 20-minute halves running clock. The clock may be stopped for any unusual delays at the discretion of the Officials or Supervisors. a. In the event of a tie, there will be one 5-minute golden goal overtime period, and games still tied will end in penalty kicks. The penalty kicks will precede as follows: the first set of penalty kicks will be 3 v 3. If there is still a tie at the end of these kicks, an additional 1 v 1 penalty kick will be taken. b. Penalty kicks can be taken by any player on the roster; however, every player must take one attempt before another player may shoot again. If the one team has more players than the other, even if the opposing team has players shooting twice, the team with more players must wait for all of their players to have attempted one shot before their other players may shoot a second time.
8. The game will start with the team winning the coin toss kicking off. The ball must be touched and rolled forward. Failure to do so will result in loss of possession. There are no re-kicks. 9. Half-time will be a maximum of two minutes in duration. 10. Substitutions may be made on the fly by any player, excluding the goalkeeper. 11. Unsportsmanlike behavior and/or dissent by any player or spectator will result in a yellow card (caution). Team captains are responsible for controlling his or her team’s attitude/behavior. If the badgering continues after a yellow card is issued, a second yellow card will be issued and the player shall be ejected.
12. Any disputes based on rules will be resolved by the Supervisor on duty. The Supervisor has full authority over any match. 13. The entire ball must be across the goal line in order to be considered a goal. Goals may be scored directly from any place on the court. 14. After a goal, the opposing team puts the ball in play at midcourt. 15. There is no offside rule. 16. If the ball hits the ceiling or goes out of play on the sideline, the following will occur: an indirect free kick by the team who did not touch the ball last while in play. The kick shall be taken from the spot closest to where the ball left play 17. If a team is last to touch a ball before it goes over its own endline, the opposing team will restart play with a corner kick. 18. If a team is last to touch a ball before it goes over the opposing team’s endline, the opposing team will restart play with a goal kick from inside the goalie box. 19. The goalie box is clearly market by blue, yellow, or red lines. 20. All fouls and infractions result in direct free kicks. 21. During direct free kicks and indirect free kicks, defending players must be at least 3 yards from the offensive player during the kick. 22. All defensive infractions within the goal box will result in a penalty kick. Penalty kicks will be taken with an open net from the Shootout mark designated on the court. 23. No players shall deliberately make contact with the hand or arm. A direct free kick will be awarded to the team not committing the infraction. 24. Players are not allowed to slide. A slide is anything other than being on your feet (i.e. going down on one knee will be considered a slide). Goalies may slide in their goalie box only. A goalie may begin his or her slide in the box and finish it outside the box, but may not begin a slide outside the box. 25. Players, including the goalies, are not allowed to slide tackle. A yellow card will be issued to players violating this rule. 26. A sportsmanship rating system will be used to promote good sportsmanship with a winning attitude. Intramural Sports officials will rate teams after each league game on a five-point scale for sportsmanship. Due to the short nature of the tournament, teams must maintain a 3.0 average sportsmanship grade throughout the competition.
