Huber Registrar: Debbie Stewart Community Van Vleck Independent School District is a public school district based in the community of Van Vleck in unincorporated Matagorda County, Texas (USA). The district serves the communities of Van Vleck, Allenhurst, Caney, Cedar Lake, Cedar Lane, Hawkinsville, and Sargent. The district consists of a high school, a middle school, and intermediate school, and an elementary school utilizing a PreK-3, 4-5, 6-8, 9-12 grade-level configuration. School Van Vleck High School is a comprehensive four-year public high school enrolling 322 students in grades 9 through 12. Curriculum The academic program is organized on an 8 period class day. Each period is 45 minutes in length. Eight credits per year is the maximum course load. AP courses are offered in Biology, Calculus, English Language, English Literature, U.S. History, Government, and Economics. AP is an open-enrollment program. Articulation agreements with local colleges and the Texas Virtual School Network enable juniors and seniors to enroll in college courses and to earn college credits. Grade Point Average A student’s Grade Point Average (GPA) includes all courses taken in grades 9-12. It is calculated on a 4-point scale with points being assigned as follows: A=4.0, B=3.0, C=2.0. Rank All core subject classes (English, math, science, and social studies) are used to calculate grade point ranking (GPR). AP and Pre-AP classes are weighted in the calculation of GPR. Ranking points are calculated according to the following scale:

Class of 2016 There were 66 graduates in the Class of 2016. 31 earned a 3.5-4.00 21 earned a 3.0-3.49 9 earned a 2.50-2.99 5 earned a 2.0-2.49 0 earned less than a 2.0 Standardized Test Results 36% of the Class of 2015 (24) took the SAT. The range of scores on each section of the SAT: Critical Reading 380-660 Math 360-650 Writing 360-570 20% of the Class of 2015 (13) took the ACT. ACT composite 13-25 AP Tests In 2016, 37 students took AP Exams A total of 76 tests in 6 subjects were taken 35% scored a 3 or better on the tests
