Verona Wildcats Youth Hockey Association Agenda Thursday, June 18, 2015 6:30pm VIA Mezzanine Present: Kari Brotzman, Scott Mirwald, Roxanne Brazeau, Steve Scadden, Steve Simpson, Jason Matilla, Craig Nelson, Justin Temple, Mike Bakalars, Greg Zieglebauer, Meredith Gabler, Bill Monroe, Mark Jones Call to order – Mark Jones at 6:33pm Approve Minutes from the May 2015 Meeting Motion to approve minutes by Roxanne Brazeau, 2nd by Scott Mirwald Secretary’s Report – Meredith Gabler Nothing to report Ice Inc. Report –Hometown Brewdown: ticket sales aren’t going as well as hoped, they are hoping for lots of walk-ins, the association is providing concessions during the event. They will be putting up signage regarding rink improvements so people are aware of the improvements they would like to make. Treasurer’s Report – Roxanne Brazeau She is working on budget for next year using birthdays, as of right now not planning on raising ice fees. Planning for 2-3 squirt teams, 3 peewee, maybe only 1 bantam however hoping for a few more skaters to make 2 teams. She will sit down with Mike Tollefson, Mike Bakalars, Janie Ritter and Jamie Stebbeds to discuss budget. We continue to try and get puck passes collected. President’s Report – Janie Ritter Nothing to report Committee Reports and updates a. Concessions – Justin Temple We are looking to purchase POS system. There is only 1 system to use to charge to account. The cost is $700 upfront and then $39 a month. It would be up and running within 30 days of installation. It can do all inventory – will notify you when things are low, transfer accounts to QuickBooks to bill, can swipe credit cards and it will go directly to the bank that we have set it up with so no one will store credit card information. b. Equipment – Tom Osting Going to add youth sizes in equipment into the budget. c. Coaches Committee – Steve Simpson Nothing to report d. Ice Scheduler – Earl Tollefson Nothing to report e. Kari is going to begin working on on-line registration. She is also looking to add the jersey rental fee onto the registration process so this is paid up front. We are deleting the credit card option for registration payment because that is not available. f. Rebranding/Fundraising –Craig Nelson Parade went very well, we had a great turnout. Talked to Kristin and they have a fundraising sub team = Craig Nelson, Kristin Simpson, Ken Waller, Justin Temple, and Mike Bakalars. They have started planning lots of activities throughout the season. These will be posted on the website as well as face book. We will also send out email notifications. g. Registrar’s Report – Mike Bakalars Nothing to report h. Tournament Coordinator – Kari Brotzman This will be the last year for the Mite full ice tournament that WAHA will sanction – Mike will double check to see if this goes into effect this year or next. Mike did check and this is in fact the last year for a Mite level tournament. i. Verona Fest – Proposed Date change from August to October. j. Recruitment – Kristin Simpson Has a team = Doug Cieslak, Kari Brotzman, and Sarah McCabe. They will be meeting to go over what they plan on doing. k. Goaltending – Greg Ziegelbauer He has been working with Bill regarding the program, there is a great foundation and he will grow off of that. He hopes to add an off-ice training component. He would like to work on getting them more aggressive in the net and they get older, playing the puck more. He will use Jay and Bill as a reference. Hoping to run opposite of U6 for on-ice and then off-ice will depend of availability. l. Update from ALD’s All is well Drafts for more Parent/Skater information to be posted on website – Jamie Stebbeds a. SafeSport Purpose and Use b. Code of Conduct purpose and use (adding no nicotine use) c. Continue to add to Evaluation FAQ’s and info d. Purchasing of jerseys e. equipment compliance (Squirt and Above) – black helmets, gloves, breezers Jersey Buyout – The cost would be $250 and you are not able to purchase your jerseys unless you are a 2nd year bantam. If jerseys are not returned at the end of each season your child will not be able to register for the next season until they have been turned in.
