Vikings Hockey OPEN Board Meeting Minutes for January 6, 2016 Call to Order: Open meeting called to order by Glenn Kendall at 6:35pm. BOD Members Present: Glenn Kendall, Andrea Joy, Jeff Szubert, John Shapiro, Katie Samas, Kara Kozar, Jeff Rudny, Nick Pollos(hockey director) Others Present: none Open Meeting Agenda: 1. Approval of November 2015 meeting minutes: Motion to approve by John Shapiro, Second by Jeff Rudny, approved by all. 2. Hockey Director Report by Nick Pollos: -Contarct with Arctic Ice Arena- 1 more year -Spring: Possible Fury & Vikings joint program, 1 day of skills, 1 day of cross ice games. -Nick working with Brick Series -Spring Midgets will be drop in;separate from all other levels -Will post spring by mid February -Next year will look to having only 3 teams at each level -John Shapiro spoke with Kevin Coyne about extra ice at Morgan Park, Nick will ask again. 3. NIHL Report by Jeff Rudny: - January meeting will take place next week. Updates to follow. 4. Treasurer report by John Shapiro: -Update via email by next week -4 declined credit cards due to changed numbers, and expiration dates 5. Fundraising report by Chad Anderson: -Chad not present for meeting, will ask about Manna Gift Cards, and Cookie Dough Refunds 6. New Business- Wolves Cup: -24 games total -Have slots, but do not know Midget Major from Minor yet -Februaury 19-22 is Round Robin -SQ Silver February 27-28; will have to decorate Feb. 26th for SQ 7. Old BusinessTC: Larry Walsh will build wall for no charge in exchange for next season’s Participation fee waived. Andrea Joy will talk to Martin Hoban.
-Katie Samas will send a note to all managers regarding Academic Achievement. NIHL Academic excellence must be done online by parents. Vikings criteria: all A’s & B’s will receive a t shirt as well as name on website. Special notice to students with all A’s. Need copy of report card and t shirt size turned in by Wednesday, January 13th. 8. Bryan Bruns and Dave Floyd came to meeting to discuss Midget Minor Minnesota Tournament. Coach Kevin Coyne felt the boys could play up at the AAA level, so he moved them up. Parents are now backing out of going to the tournament. Kevin gave out a vote, and majority vote was to go. More parents backing out now, therefore not enough players are going to be able to play in the tournament. Nick Pollos will be informed and will go from there.
