In every area of our lives, self-interest, greed, corruption, short-term blindness and fear of danger and lack are not just commonplace, but have often become the norm. Our trust in our leaders, those who deeply influence and shape the context in which our lives take place, has eroded and disintegrated, leaving us cynical and despairing. If humanity is to succeed and thrive, if it is to develop wholesomely, something big will have to change. We will need to reappraise who we are, what drives us, what is most important and what we are willing to contribute to changing our old fear- and greed-driven paradigms. Ultimately, we will need to access a greatness deep in ourselves, a capacity that may have lain dormant all our lives. We will need to wake up to our infinite capacity to imagine, to envision, to create, to innovate and to love – not just for the sake of our individual selves, but for the sake of others as an integral part of that same universal self.
