We are in the heart of winter in a northern climate, so what can that mean for your nutrition status? Starting in autumn, we see fewer hours of daylight and cooler weather, which means more bundling up. All of this translates into us receiving less direct and overall sun exposure. Therefore, our bodies have less of an opportunity to synthesize adequate amounts of Vitamin D. Yes, the body can make Vitamin D, but it needs sunlight to do so. Therefore, you may want to consider adding a Vitamin D3 supplement to your routine and consult your doctor for the optimal daily dose that is right for you.
