No strangers to NCAA postseason tournaments, the SUNYAC membership boasts 32 national championship teams and countless All-Americans. Presently, the conference members compete in 20 sports: nine for men and eleven for women. Last year, the SUNYAC crowned men’s team champions in baseball, basketball, cross-country, ice hockey, indoor & outdoor track, lacrosse, soccer, and swimming/diving. The league also awarded women’s championships in basketball, cross-country, field hockey, indoor & outdoor track, lacrosse, soccer, softball, swimming/diving, tennis, and volleyball.
Our learner-centered approach stresses quality education and experience inside and outside the classroom on our scenic, 690-acre lakeside campus. Students pursue bright futures through programs in our College of Liberal Arts and Sciences; School of Business; School of Communication, Media, and the Arts; and School of Education – as well as innovative interdisciplinary programs that cross traditional boundaries. Oswego State’s commitment to serving the well-being and readiness of its student-athletes extends from the classroom to the quality of athletic facilities. Laker Hall, which was built in 1968, serves as the Lakers’ primary indoor facility and is home to the Oswego State Athletic Department.

Head Coach Pat Hanlon Pat Hanlon enters her sixth season as head coach of the Laker volleyball team in 2010, after serving as the team’s assistant coach from 2001-04. In 2008, Oswego State tallied an overall record of 13-20 and narrowly missed a SUNYAC playoff berth with a record of 4-6 in West Division play. The program made great advances in her first season and finished with a 17-15 record and narrowly missed out on the SUNYAC Post-Season. Her second season as head coach saw another improvement in the team’s record, as posted a 19-15 record. In addition to success on the court, Hanlon’s program is consistently one of Oswego State’s top academic achieving teams. EMAIL:

Hanlon is a graduate of SUNY Oswego with a degree in elementary education and has a recreation degree from Onondaga Community College. She has been a member of the Empire State Games Master’s division team since 1990. She has been a lifetime promoter of volleyball in central New York as she has coached area club teams, high school varsity teams, and the Central Region Scholastic Women’s Volleyball team at the Empire State Games. Hanlon is a nationally-accredited scorekeeper, clinician, and state-ranked official. She served as a scorer at a pre-Olympic men’s volleyball match (USA vs. Bulgaria) in 2000.
“Some of my greatest life lessons have come from coaching. I learn something new from each team I coach. One lesson that relates to everything I do is that you have to have humor as part of your play book. If you are not having fun, you should not be doing it.”
2009 Season in Review Youthful Squad Gains Experience in 2009
A youthful Laker volleyball team that consisted of seven freshman and four sophomores completed a schedule of 31 contests that was highlighted by capturing third-place honors at the Oswego State Invitational with a weekend record of 3-1. Sophomore Jess Isgro, who was the top offensive player for the second consecutive season, received alltournament team recognition for her efforts over the two days. Additional accolades earned by the squad during the season, included sophomore Katie van Kessel being named to the Hartwick Invitational All-Tournament Team.
