Volunteer Coach Agreement NCAA Bylaw 11.01.5 Coach, Volunteer. In sports other than football and basketball, a volunteer coach is any coach who does not receive compensation or remuneration from the institution’s athletics department or any organization funded in whole or in part by the athletics department or that is involved primarily in the promotion of the institution’s athletics program (e.g., booster club, athletics foundation). The following provisions shall apply: (a) The individual is prohibited from contacting and evaluating prospective student-athletes off campus, scouting opponents off campus, and may not perform recruiting coordination functions. (b) The individual may receive a maximum of two complimentary tickets to home athletics contests in the coach’s sport. (c) The individual may receive complimentary meals incidental to organized tea m activities (e.g., pre- or post- game meals, occasional meals, but not training table meals), or meals provided during a prospective student-athlete's official visit, provided the individual dines with the prospective student-athlete. (d) The individual may receive compensation from employment in an institution’s sports camp or clinic, provided the compensation is commensurate with the going rate for camp or clinic counselors of like teaching ability and cam p or clinic experience. Employment Conditions: RMU may not employ (either on a salaried or volunteer basis) an individual who coaches in the same sport for a high school, preparatory school or two-year college. I certify that I am not currently employed in the same sport at a high school, preparatory school or two-year college. Rules and Regulations Violations: As a volunteer, I agree to abide by and comply with NCAA and NEC constitution, bylaws, agreements, rules and interpretations as well as all other Robert Morris and Department of Athletics regulations, policies, and procedures. Reporting of Violations: In the event that I become aware of or have reasonable cause to believe that a violation has occurred involving NCAA, University, or NEC bylaws, agreements, interpretations, rules, regulations, policies, procedures, or principles, I shall report it promptly to the Director of Athletics, Sport Supervisor, or the R M U Athletics Compliance Office. In addition, I acknowledge that I am in good health and good physical condition. I understand and assume the risks and accept the consequences involved in my participation. I understand that if I am injured, I am responsible for my health care costs; and I agree to release RMU, its officers, agents, employees, volunteers and students from any and all claims for injury or illness resulting from my participation.
