Volunteer Hours Thank you for volunteering! The Girls Association has developed a process to value the time that is put forth to promote Faribault Girls Basketball and its many activities. To that extent there are numerous opportunities/need for assistance to ensure an excellent experience for your daughter. This process has been developed to ensure effective participation is shared by all parents and/or guardians of our Faribault basketball players. How it works: At the time of your daughter’s registration each parent/guardian will be required to make a deposit of $200 ($75.00 for 3rd grade parents) acknowledging a commitment towards volunteering time over the course of the upcoming basketball season. We have basketball activities that start in early fall and continue into spring. Volunteer activities will be identified at the time of registration for families to start planning. o
Deposit checks ($200 or $75) will be kept until approximately May 1st or until all volunteer opportunities have been completed, at which time all of the volunteer hours should be fulfilled. The check will then be destroyed and verified by email through the designated Association treasurer. If the volunteer hours are not fulfilled the check will be cashed and deposited.
o
Non-payment status is based on a family’s scholarship status within the Association. Families and players within the scholarship program that are unable to pay the deposit will be required additional hours as outlined in the scholarship program. All other situations for non-payment will be handled on a case-by-case basis. The FGBA reserves the right to have volunteer hours as a requirement of the registration process. If families are unwilling to pay the volunteer deposit, the Association cannot accept a player’s registration.
A PLAYERS PARENT/GUARDIAN needs to agree to 7 volunteer hours (3rd Grade – 3 volunteer hours). o Volunteer commitments will be managed through a “Volunteer Coordinator” through an online system called “DIBS,” that will track each persons committed hours. o DIBS is located at www.faribaultbasketball.com.
A player’s parent or guardian should sign-up for the designated volunteer hours. Exceptions to this must be pre-approved by the Association. Failing to show up for a volunteer commitment may be potential forfeiture of the deposit. Pre-approval by the Association must be granted to cancel a commitment.
o Families with multiple players only need to commit to 11 volunteer hours o Traveling Basketball Coaches and their families are exempt from volunteer commitment. There are benefits for everyone in volunteering: We are giving an opportunity to our children to the best basketball programs we can offer. We give our time to support the success of the overall programs. We get to meet new people or reunite with friends. We work as a team of many and have fun too. Thank you for joining us!
