Arnika Cummings, an LBGC alumnae has returned to guide younger members as a small group mentor. Arnika wants to mentor a child who is considered “at risk” - as she was growing up. She would also like to guest speak to small groups of mid to high school aged children on the need to make better choices as early as possible to avoid the pitfalls she faced. Arnika is a real survivor who has turned her life around and returned to school and invested herself into her community.
The Sanchez Family, took on an important roll this year when the Club received a donation of old bikes. Israel Sanchez with help from wife Jennifer, got the whole family involved. Junior helped paint and little Isabelle helped clean out the spokes and tires. Some of the restored bicycles have been used as rewards for members in the Power Reading program. Others have been donated to volunteers and foster youth in the Lompoc community. In November, Jennifer recruited help from her squadron to assist with the pre-holiday club cleanup. Thanks Sanchez Family!
