GENERAL CONDITIONS: DOGS: Must be on a lead at all times. YELLOW CARD: This Show supports the RAS “Yellow Card” System. A Yellow card will be issued, in cases of offences in respect of abuse of animals or inappropriate behaviour as per the RAS Constitution and the RAS Rules & Regulations/Bylaws including the Equestrian Rulebook, the RAS affiliated Show Measuring Stand and their grounds and their duly appointed delegates may deliver to the Person Responsible a Yellow Warning Card (either immediately or within 10 days of the show) which suspends any penalty until possible new offences. Full wording of the “Yellow Card” system, is available to view on the RAS website – www.ras.org.nz. FORBIDDEN SUBSTANCE – The Rules of the Rural A&P Society New Zealand in regards to Forbidden Substances apply. Competitors are advised that tests of forbidden substances may be carried out during the Show and the testing of all animals is at the person responsible’s risk. Forbidden Substance – Any substance capable of affecting the speed, stamina, courage or conduct of a horse, pony, donkey or mule by its action upon the central or peripheral nervous system or the cardio-vascular, respiratory, alimentary, digestive, muscoskeletal or urogenital systems. ARREARS – No person who is in arrears with regard to entry fees, subscriptions, or any other Show charge is eligible to compete at any affiliated Show. Proof of payment will be required before any restrictions are lifted. SUMMARY OF RAS RESOLUTION PROCESS – the full process can be found on the RAS website www.ras.org.nz. The principle behind the process is to deal with the matter as it comes to hand in most cases it should be dealt with directly by the show. If the matter is in regards to n RAS official, the show may request the assistance of RAS Head Office as to how to deal with this in an appropriate manner. R.A.S. RULES: Where applicable events are run under R.A.S. Rules. The organising committee reserves the right to alter, amend or delete any classes or start times as they see fit. There may be no lunch break. Judging for showing classes may be continuous at the steward’s discretion. HATS AND SAFETY HELMETS Wearing a hard hat is compulsory for anyone competing on, working in or schooling, or riding for any other reason an exhibit at a RAS affiliated Show/Event or in any area considered to be for whatever reason a part of the Showgrounds. All riders, including harness drivers, competing at RAS affiliated A&P Shows/Events must wear protective headgear, which includes a retaining harness secured to the shell at more than two points. Such headgear must be worn with the chinstrap properly adjusted and fastened when in the arena or ring, the practice area, collecting rings or anywhere else within a Showgrounds. Hats/helmets must conform with the current approved safety standards and must be red tagged. No red tag – no entry to the ring. These standards may be subject to change, but the latest list can be found at www.ras.org.nz under the equestrian tab. The RAS will advise any changes via their website and Facebook.
ESNZ RULES. All show jumping, Show hunter classes are run under ESNZ rules. Entries must be on official ESNZ current rider registration entry form. $5 Jumping Levy - compulsory for all equines competing in Jumping and/or Showhunter Classes. $20 Casual Jumping Levy The rider must be registered with ESNZ. Horse not registered for ESNZ J/SH can compete using this levy. Can compete upto and including 1.10m on horses and 1.00m on ponies. Cannot compete in series classes and will not be eligible for HOY points in SH. LEGAL LIABILITY: Our association policy does not cover competitors or exhibitors, each exhibitor must supervise and control their animals at ALL times. Exhibitors must comply with Animal legislation and Health and Safety in Employment act.

ENTRY FEES & CHARGES: Postal entries received after the closing date will be treated as late entries (NON-REFUNDABLE). Late entries $5.00 penalty. All prize monies and fees are GST inclusive. GST tax invoices available on request. Class changes will incur a $2 alteration fee for each class alteration; owners may transfer EF to a substituted entry. PROTESTS: Must be lodged in writing with the secretary, no later than 30 minutes after conclusion of event concerned, a deposit of $30 must accompany EACH protest. Deposit will be refunded if protest is upheld. REFUNDS: No refund will be paid out during the show. Refunds are at the discretion of the organising committee. Entry fees are refunded less 20% if secretary is notified prior to start of days competition, vet certificate or similar to be supplied if appropriate. PRIZE MONEY: The organising committee reserves the right to alter prize money as it sees fit. HORSE ACCOMODATION: Free Overnight yards are available. Absolutely no temporary fencing allowed on the ground.

CHILDREN’s PET PARADE Open to ALL pets (excluding horses & ponies already entered in competitions). Children bring your pets & assemble in the front of the grandstand at 12.15pm. The judging will be done around 12.30pm. ALL pets are to be suitably controlled. Ribbons. The Houghton Cup will be awarded for the best lamb. EQUESTRIAN EVENTS The organising Committee reserve the right to alter the programme. Appropriate Height Certificate should be carried. Prize monies will be paid regardless of entries. RING CLASSES Novice is horse or pony with less than 6 wins in either conformation or paced and mannered classes. Local is the boundary of the Taihape ESNZ Area. Beyond the Barriers Points Prize The Points Prize is for registered Thoroughbreds only. Prizes awarded to top three Thoroughbreds over both days of the show. Horse’s and riders need to be in attendance at prize giving to be eligible.
