Friday, March 2 Pray together: Lord our God, blessed is the one who comes in your name!
Gather us in your gentle presence as a hen shelters her brood beneath her wings. Finish the work you have begun in us so that we may show your glory; through Jesus Christ our peace.

Saturday, March 3 Read Matthew 6:19-21 with your family. Discuss: During Lent, Christians fast, repent, and give to people who have less than they do. Let’s remind each other: What is our Lenten fast? What are each of us repenting of? Who are we giving to? What are we giving? 

Closing prayer: Lord Jesus, help us this Lent to learn to love You more, so that we might lay up treasure in Heaven. Amen.

Walk the Walk Through Lent Dear People of God: The first Christians observed with great devotion the days of our Lord's passion and resurrection, and it became the custom of the Church to prepare for them by a season of penitence and fasting. This season of Lent provided a time in which converts to the faith were prepared for Holy Baptism. It was also a time when those who, because of notorious sins, had been separated from the body of the faithful were reconciled by penitence and forgiveness, and restored to the fellowship of the Church. Thereby, the whole congregation was put in mind of the message of pardon and absolution set forth in the Gospel of our Savior, and of the need which all Christians continually have to renew their repentance and faith. I invite you, therefore, in the name of the Church, to the observance of a holy Lent, by self-examination and repentance; by prayer, fasting, and self-denial; and by reading and meditating on God's holy Word. Trisagion: Nine Times Holy Holy God, Holy and Mighty, Holy Immortal One Have mercy upon us.

Read Colossians 3:12 -17 with your family. Plan a spring “thanksgiving” dinner with your family. Invite friends to join you. Closing Prayer: Yes God, Lent is a time to be thankful. We thank you for our many blessings, the things we often take for granted. We thank you too, for our troubles, for we know that they help us to grow. Thank you most of all for the gift of your Son, for in his life, death, and resurrection, we have been set free.

Holy God. Holy Compassion, Holy Abundant One, Have mercy upon us. Holy God, Holy and Gracious, Holy Beautiful One, Have mercy upon us. (Ain, The Reverend Judith P.. "Trisagion: Nine Times Holy." Wednesday, February 29 God, all things come from you. There is nothing that happens in our loves without your knowing. We have so much, God. We take it all for granted. The sun comes up in the morning. The ocean rolls into the shore. The stars shine. The leaves change color. Thank you, God, for these gifts. Thank you for the people who love us in spite of ourselves. Thank you for your son who was nailed to the cross. Amen. (Case, Seven L. The Book of Uncommon Prayer: Contemplative and Celebrato-

ry Prayers and Worship Services for Youth Ministry. Grand Rapids: Zondervan, 2002. 78. Print. )

Thursday, March 1 Read Exodus 3: 1-15 with your family. Discuss: What would have surprised you the most – a bush on fire or a voice coming out of the bush? 

Pray together: Dear God, I offer you my talents, attitudes, actions, and feelings. Use all of them and all of me for your glory and for the good of other people. I ask in Jesus’ name, Amen.
