Additionally, those registering after teams have been formed will not be placed immediately to attempt to keep the competitive balance of all teams. All are strongly encouraged to register on time and in person.

Registration Forms A properly completed Registration Form is required for each child you are enrolling. Please go to our website www.wallkillarealittleleague.org to print out the necessary copies. There are different

2 versions of the form for Baseball and Softball. The process of registration will be expedited if all parents have this form completed before coming to registration.

Little League Age Determination for the 2017 Season Little League age determination will be done in accordance with the charts and guidance provided by Little League, Inc. Please go to our website to view the charts for baseball and/or softball to determine your child’s little league age for the upcoming season. The little league age will determine the division your child plays in during the 2017 season. Little League International adjusted the age brackets for 2016, and those remain the new Baseball Age brackets.

Residency and School Attendance Eligibility This was New in 2014. In an effort to accommodate for Little Leaguers to play with their classmates, and ease the burden on parents and guardians, Little League has amended its residency requirements to allow children to play in the local league whose boundaries where they attend school is located. Therefore, WALL is now open to all residents of the Wallkill School District with NO Exceptions (this now includes those in the Town of Newburgh who have a 12550 zip code, provided they attend Wallkill Schools).

Volunteer Applications All managers, coaches, and adult umpires must complete a Volunteer Application to coach or umpire during the 2017 season. Please bring a completed form to registration. You will not be considered for managing, coaching, or umpiring unless we have a completed Volunteer Application. We really do not have the time to chase people down for Volunteer Application forms – if we don’t have one you cannot coach. We also need a Copy of your Drivers License.

Manager/Coach Responsibilities   

Managers and coaches in the Minor 2, Major, Intermediate, and Junior/Senior Baseball & Softball divisions may be required to participate as umpires during their games. Managers and coaches will be required to attend a mandatory first aid training session. Managers and coaches will be required to attend a mandatory coach’s clinic.

Junior/Senior Baseball The league has decided to go with the majority vote from prior seasons, and will again try to conduct the baseball program for our older children in-house at our complex rather than travel to other leagues to play. (We could change this if we do not have enough participants, or if the vast majority of participants desire a change.) This will once again expand the age (and thus date of birth range) for this division. All children born between May 1, 2000 and April 30, 2004 are eligible to play in this division. If we have enough children to form at least four teams we will play all games at our complex. When we get to All-Stars we will field a Junior Team and a Senior Team, should our numbers allow for this. The Jr. team will consist of children born between May 1, 2002 and April 30, 2004. The Sr. team will be made up of children born between May 1, 2000 and April 30, 2002.

Team Selection

3 We will re-draft teams in all draft eligible divisions (Minor 2, Major, Intermediate, & Junior/Senior for both Baseball & Softball) for the 2017 season. We want to ensure the competitive balance of each team in these divisions. We will re-select the T-ball and Minor 1 division teams for the 2017 season. We will not be able to accommodate requests from managers, coaches, or parents to have children play on a certain team. PLEASE DO NOT ASK US FOR AN EXCEPTION. Refreshment Stand Policy There is no parental obligation to work in the refreshment stand during the season. However, we would appreciate any volunteer help that parents can provide.

Birth Certificates We will inform those who need to supply us with a birth certificate that this item is required. If your child has not played previously in the Wallkill Area Little League, please bring a copy of his or her birth certificate to registration. For All first year players, a Birth Certificate must be provided.

Bonding Many Little Leagues have gone to a system of bonding to encourage parental volunteer participation in Little League programs. Bonding involves charging a fee at registration generally $50 or more per family and refunding this amount to those who help for a minimum number of hours during the season (generally 8 to 10 hours). The Wallkill Area Little League will not go to Bonding this year. However, if the assistance received does not increase we may need to begin this program for the 2018 season. Please call and ask how you can help. We need your assistance.
