Environmental Health Division The Environmental Health Division has the task of enforcing rules related to restaurants, retail food stores, campgrounds, private water and sewage syst e ms, bo dy art facilities, swimming pools and nuisance abatement.

Environmental Health Division This division also conducts investigations on animal bites, school safety, smoking and other areas of public health concern. The goal of this program is to ensure safe food and protection of public safety in these program areas. A second goal is to educate the public and promote good health outcomes. FCHD inspectors abate these nuisances and educate homeowners on the hazards of allowing garbage to accumulate.

In 2016, the FCHD inspectors continued to provide a mosquito education program to help prevent the spread of mosquito borne diseases such as

West Nile Virus and Zika. Inspectors investigated 82 animal bites for the presence of rabies in 2016. This number is lower than the five-year average for investigations. The FCHD Environmental Division has helped many homeowners who qualify financially over the last several years replace failing sewage systems.
