Washington Elementary is covering the character traits of Thoroughness and Flexibility for the month of April. The definitions are as follows: Lisa Gary-Jones Social Worker

Thoroughness: Knowing what factors will diminish the effectiveness of my work or words, if neglected.

Flexibility: Willingness to change plans or ideas without getting upset.

Life is constant and consistent change. It is absolutely necessary for our children to be thorough and flexible as they navigate through life. As students, they are required to listen, follow directions, and stay on task as they learn new and different educational concepts. When they are willing to pay closer attention to their work and words, they are better prepared to take on current and new information. They also need to be flexible, for they are asked daily to open up their minds and take in academics as well as the character traits that are being taught. The better equipped our students are to take on new challenges, means they will be even better prepared to successfully travel through life’s journey. As parents, you are equipped to show your children how practicing the character traits have helped you to be in a great position to guide them. Talk with your children, and see if they can give you some examples as to how they can benefit from utilizing thoroughness and flexibility. In closing, let’s continue to work together, home & school, to wrap around our children to ensure they have the best educational experience possible!!!

Deadline: April 21st Please help out by donating case(s) of water (NO GALLONS) to help our neighbors in West Calumet in East Chicago. Water will be donated to the Carmelite Home and the LC Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, etc. Students who donate water will receive a nut day.
