SWA provided landscape design for the plaza and garden at Waterfront Centre, the major open space for Vancouver’s dynamic western waterfront. The sunken garden protects urban workers, tourists and conventioneers from the coastal wind and gives separation from the major street at the edge of the bay. The plaza and garden is at the end of the pedestrian route from Vancouver’s business center. It features a water element that masks street noise to provide a quiet refuge from the activity that surrounds it.
