Dear Families, We have a short but full week ahead of us! Our class Christmas celebration will be this Thursday. We also have a special pajama day on Tuesday where a special guest reader will read the Polar Express to the first and second grade! Also thank you to Ms. Chen who was our Secret Santa Reader last week! The students were so excited and made adorable gingerbread ornaments! Reading/Writing In reading we will be working with the themes of Christmas and the coming of a New Year. Spelling No spelling test this week, as it is a short week! Math This week we will be reviewing the subtraction and addition strategies before starting Chapter 5 when we return from break. Religion The DWCA Christmas Liturgy will be held this Wednesday, December 21st at 10:30am with the Douglaston campus at St. Robert’s. Homework and Notes Thank you for your donations to Operation Gratitude! The students also made cards to send along with our care package, and it opened up a great discussion about giving to those who help us or are in need. Below are a few pictures of the first and second grade writing their cards in the library. Reminders Tuesday, December 20th is pajama day for the students. Wednesday, December 21st is the DWCA Christmas Liturgy. Thursday, December 22nd is “dress up” day. Instead of wearing the school uniform students may wear more formal attire.

No after school on Thursday, December 22nd all students will be dismissed at 2:45pm. School will reopen Tuesday, January 3rd after Christmas recess. Sincerely,

Mrs. Collalto
