Read 1 Thessalonians 3:6-13; 1 John 5:4; 2 Corinthians 1:4; 1 Corinthians 16:13; James 5:8. 1. What was significant about the report Timothy brought to Paul from the Thessalonians?
2. Why did Timothy go to Thessalonica and Paul remain in Athens? Does that barrier still have power in our lives?
3. What causes the Thessalonians to desire to see Paul? Why does Paul desire to see them?
4. How does Paul deal with his inability to fulfill his desires to see the Thessalonians? How should we deal with our disappointments in life?

Read 1 Thessalonians 3:6-13; John 10:10; 1 Samuel 30:6; 2 Timothy 1:7; Psalm 100. 1. In the midst of distress and persecution, what was it that encouraged Paul? What characteristics describe a life lived by this virtual demonstration by the Thessalonians that encouraged Paul? 1
2. What does it mean to stand firm in the Lord? Why is it important for Christians to “stand firm”?
3. How do the Thessalonians “standing firm” allow Paul to “really live”?
4. What does joy look like in the life of a believer? What gives you joy and how to you show it?

Read 1 Thessalonians 3:6-13; Ephesians 1:4; Philippians 1:10; 2 Peter 3:14. 1. What do you notice about how Paul prays for the Thessalonians? How should this inform the way we pray for others?
2. What does “blameless and holy” mean in verse 13? Why is it important for Christians to be blameless and holy?
3. In what ways can a believer’s “love increase and overflow for each other and for everyone else” (verse 12)?
4. In what ways does your life need to grow in the characteristics Paul prays for the Thessalonians?
