WEST CATHOLIC ATHLETIC DEPARTMENT West Catholic currently has an opening for the position of defensive coordinator on the varsity. Applicants must have prior experience coaching defense and be committed to doing the necessary work required in pursuit of excellence. West Catholic has a strong and proud tradition including being state champions the last four consecutive years and winning the last five out of seven state championships. Job Description: The responsibilities for the defensive coordinator will include: working with and assisting the head coach to coordinate personnel, facilitate film with both players and staff, prepare defensive practice plans with scripts, communicate expectations, monitor growth of the defensive coaching staff, participate in fundraising efforts for both the football program and athletic department, and be involved in the West Catholic Community. Academics
Monitoring of student-athletes’ academic performance and athletic eligibility. Acquiring knowledge of MHSAA and conference policies and eligibility standards, with demonstrated commitment to adhering to policies/standards.
Team
Supervising assistant coaches and/or student assistants for programs under the position’s direction/responsibility, in conjunction with the Athletic Director and Head Coach. Scheduling and planning of practices and training programs. Coordinating public service and volunteer opportunities for student-athletes and football staff. Violation of MHSAA rules is prohibited and may result in disciplinary action up to and including termination of employment. Attend camps, 7 on 7 competitions, retreats, and other scheduled football activities.
Knowledge and Experience
Prior football coaching or playing experience required. Previous head coordinator position preferred.
