WEST CHICAGO LACROSSE CLUB 2016 Fee Information West Chicago Lacrosse Club is a recognized activity of Community High School District 94, but the high school cannot contribute monetarily to the Club. Therefore, all costs of operating the Club must be generated by user fees and fundraisers. Fees incurred by the Club include Illinois High School Lacrosse Association (IHSLA) dues, team liability insurance, post-season awards, indoor practice facilities, purchase of practice and game equipment such as goals, balls, uniforms and pinnies. Home game expenses include paying for referees, field lining, timekeeping and scoring equipment. Fees also include the cost of transportation to away games. We must also pay our Coaching Staff. The Lacrosse Parent Board is working hard to keep fees as reasonable as possible. Equipment is not included in the Club dues. Listed below is the required equipment needed to play: 1. Lacrosse helmet – WHITE (club recommended) 2. Lacrosse gloves (not hockey gloves) 3. Lacrosse shoulder pads 4. Lacrosse arm guards 5. Lacrosse, football or soccer cleats 6. Mouth guard, athletic supporter/cup 7. Lacrosse stick with head Registration Fees Club fees - early bird registration is $350 IF paid in full on or before registration night, January 27, 2016. Otherwise, fees are $400 after registration until the cut off of February 24, 2016. (New players remain $350 to the cut off) Exceptions to this must be discussed with the Board President. For a second player in a family (sibling) – club fees are half of first player. Registration Fee Refunds Full fees less $50 will be refunded with notice of cancellation by February 29, 2016. From March 1 to March 15, 2016, one 1/2 of fees will be refunded. No refunds will be made after March 15, 2016. Reduce Your Registration Fees Parents may reduce their Registration Fees to as little as zero by obtaining corporate sponsors. For every $100 of sponsorship money, families will receive $50 (50%) off of their fees. Families who bring in $700 in sponsorship monies, save $350, which equals the early-bird registration fee. (The reduction only applies to registration fees and cannot exceed registration fees.) In return, Sponsors receive advertisement in these several ways: logos are added on our color poster schedule – 100 copies distributed to local businesses; logos included in our Sticks & Stones Program – 400 copies; Sponsors are announced during each of our home games; Sponsorship Banner is displayed at Home Games and are included in Home Game Programs.. See a Board Member for details. c/o Community High School, 326 Joliet Street, West Chicago, Illinois 60185 www.wegolax.com
WEST CHICAGO LACROSSE CLUB
Fundraising & Volunteer Requirements The Club’s annual operating budget is between $25,000 to $30,000. The budget fluctuates based upon cost increases for insurance, referees, in-door practice facilities, away-game bus fees, coach’s stipends, etc. The board members do not get paid. All monies collected go towards the operation of the Club in support of our teams and players. The Lacrosse Club Board has chosen to use a combination of registration fees and fundraising to offset Club costs. The split is basically 50%-50% with fundraising used to keep registration fees at a reasonable amount. Note that some other teams charge as much as $1000 per player to play Lacrosse at their school/club. Our Club sponsors the Stick’s & Stones Lacrosse Tournament (April 16th & 17th)which is one of the longest running, most prestigious tournaments in the state of Illinois. Annually, teams come from as far as Wisconsin and Missouri to participate in our tournament. The Stick’s & Stones tournament is one of the Club’s largest fundraisers of the year but additional fundraisers are also necessary to raise monies. Parent volunteers are required in order to organize and operate these fundraising events. Volunteers are also required to stripe the Stadium field, home game set up / take down, operate the field clock, the scoreboard, shag balls, transport equipment to away games, etc. In a perfect world, ALL families would volunteer equally to share in the work involved in running the Club including fundraising. Thankfully many Club members do more than their fair share for the sake of the Club and our players, however unfortunately, some cannot / do not. For 2016, each family will be required to volunteer a MINIMUM of 30 hours to support Club activities or pay $300. 10 of the 30 hours must be spent supporting Stick’s & Stones and include 4 hours to work at least 1 home game (set up / take down, shag balls, etc.). Volunteer time will be scheduled, tracked and monitored. Families will have full access to volunteer data and the Club President/Board will address any discrepancies or issues. For any hours worked under the required 30 hours the family owes $300. Each family is required to write a post-dated check in the amount of $300 at the time of registration. This check is held by the Treasurer and only cashed if necessary after the season is completed and it is determined 30 volunteer hours have not been met. Un-cashed checks are either returned to parents or destroyed by the Treasurer.

Build a great reputation for you, your family and your school. Respect – Treat others like you would like to be treated. Be considerate of the feelings of others. Be tolerant of others differences. Use good manners, not BAD LANGUAGE. Respect the decisions of authority (Parents, Coaches and Board Members). Deal responsibly with anger, insults and disagreements. Responsibility – Do what is expected of you. Always do your best. Use self-control and be selfdisciplined. Think before you act – consider the consequences. Be accountable for your actions. Fairness – play by the rules. Be open-minded and listen. Don’t take advantage of others. Caring – Be kind, compassionate and show that you care. Express gratitude, forgive others and help people in need. Citizenship – Do your share to make your school and your community better. Cooperate and stay informed. Take an active positive role in YOUR school. Academics A student athlete is in school to earn an education. Our primary goal is for the young adult to be a student first and an athlete second. Commitment to both is essential for success in the classroom and on/off of the playing field. Risk of Injury Lacrosse is a fast paced powerful and full-contact sport. The game involves contact with other players, equipment and the field. Due to these inherent conditions, participating in lacrosse exposes an athlete to potential injury risks. In an effort to make the sport as safe as possible, it is vital that players adhere to coaching instructions, progressions and procedures. Signing below signifies my understanding and compliance with the Pillars of Good Character, the Academic requirements and the Risk of Injury potential.
