Dear Parents/Carers, Wear it Wild Day - Friday 5th June World Environment Day raising money for the World Wildlife Fund. This year we are really excited to be raising money and awareness for the World Environment Day (WWF – World Wildlife Fund.) In recent years, there has been a growing awareness of the need to help our planet, wildlife and environment with developing events, like Earth Hour. We only have one planet and there is a need to help endangered species and the diminishing habitats that these animals live in. This year, West Lodge Primary School would like to get involved and raise money to support this event. To help raise money in a fun way, we are asking for a donation of £1.00 and the children can come into school dressed up as a wild animal. By dressing tough like a tiger, getting flashy like a flamingo or strutting your stuff like a snow leopard, we can protect incredible wildlife, like the Bengal tiger. It could be as complex as an animal costume or to come in wearing simple T –shirt with an animal print. No face paints please. Our planet is full of wonderful wildlife that enriches our lives from large animals to small insects, the latest Living Planet Report reveals that wildlife populations worldwide have declined by 52% since 1970. Each class is going to have one endangered animal, which will be represented on Wear It Wild day. Your half term homework is to make a headband for this endangered animal. Your chosen animal outfit which you have chosen to wear may be different to your headband. Everyone in your class will be making a head band for your animal. You will wear the headband in the assembly to allow us to share some of the endangered animals. This is why we would love you to take part in Wear it Wild. We appreciate your support and hope you will have fun dressing up and celebrating all things wild to help West Lodge Primary School raise money for Wear It Wild Day. Yours sincerley, Miss Bucci
