According to available records, Westminster competed in men’s basketball since 1928. They fielded a team every year until athletics was dropped at the college in 1979. They joined the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) prior to the 1967 season. Westminster won the RMAC championship in 1969 and again in 1973 and 1974. They played in the NAIA National Tournament in both 1959 and 1961, losing in the opening round each season. Known at the time as the Parsons, they played home games in Payne Gymnasium which is on the campus of Westminster College and is still used by the current athletic department.

These records are incomplete and this section represents all the information we have on the history of the basketball program at Westminster College. Since the history files are incomplete, the current Westminster Athletic Department has decided to keep these records seperate from the records that have occured since basketball was reinstated for the 1999-2000 season. Research assistance has been provided by Mark Miles, Josh Fisher, Ian McCabe, and Scott Iverson. If anyone has information they would like to add to this section, please contact the Westmister Athletic Department at 800.748.4753.
