Westwood Girls Basketball Invited to 2017 NIKE Tournament of Champions BLYTHEWOOD, S.C. —The Westwood Girls Basketball Team earned an invite to the 21st Annual NIKE Tournament of Champions, scheduled for December 19 – 22, 2017 in Phoenix, AZ. Westwood is one of just 96 high schools across the United States to be holding such an invitation. Long considered the most competitive and prestigious high school basketball event – boys’ or girls’ – in the world, the Tournament of Champions has produced 15 of the last 17 consensus National Champions and 168 State Champions since 1997. Its alumni include dozens of collegiate All-Americans, 8 Olympians and six #1 WNBA draft picks. Highlights of the 2017 event include:
96 teams in six 16-team brackets, including the majority of the preseason top 25 teams in the nation Four games guaranteed The legendary NIKE Coaches’ Reception for high school and visiting college coaches Team lodging at the AAA Four Diamond Arizona Grand Resort
Westwood High School Girls Basketball was selected by MAXPreps as one the top 5 girls teams in the State for 2016 – 2017. With a season record of 19 – 6, the Redhawks finished the year as the Region 3 4A runner up and advance to the second round of the State Play-offs falling to State Champions North Augusta.
