Are  you  a  “Representative  of  the   University of West Alabama Athletics Interest”  or  commonly  known  as  a   “Booster”? You are if you meet any of the following conditions: ● You are a member of any organization that promotes the University of West  Alabama’s  athletics  program  (e.g.   Tiger Club) ● You have made a financial contribution to the University of West Alabama Department of Athletics or any of its booster organizations. ● You have ever assisted in the recruitment of prospects for the University of West Alabama.

know the rules Meals You may provide a current student-athlete or team with a meal on an occasional basis on campus or in your home.

Recruiting Only the University of West Alabama coaches who successfully complete the annual NCAA Coaches Certification Exam are permitted to be involved in the recruiting process.

Benefits

● You have provided benefits (e.g. summer jobs or occasional meals) to enrolled student-athletes.

You many not provide current or prospective student-athletes with impermissible benefits such as cash, travel, clothing, etc.

● You have ever, in any way, promoted the athletics program at the University of West Alabama.

Marketing

NOTE: Please know that once you have become a booster, you retain that identity indefinitely.

You may not use current student-athletes to market your business or introduce them to agents

The general rule to remember is if you cannot provide the same benefit to every student on campus, you cannot provide it to a student-athlete.

Current or prospective student-athletes may be declared ineligible for competition or deemed ineligible to receive financial aid. LOSS OF WINS Victories obtained while playing ineligible student-athletes will be forfeited/vacated. DISASSOCIATION Boosters guilty of violations may be barred from UWA Athletics altogether. SANCTIONS The University may be sanctioned by the NCAA through probation, financial penalties, loss of scholarships, postseason bans, recruiting restrictions and more. Remember it’s better to ASK before you ACT!!!
