What Mission Friends classes do you currently have? Would there be opportunity for a higher quality of learning for all preschoolers if more classes were created to allow for more age appropriate learning? Do you offer a class for babies? Remember, Mission Friends begins with babies and there is Mission Friends Curriculum designed for that age level.

Bigger and Better with Bubbles (Older Preschoolers)

Enlistment Keeping in mind the theme, Bigger and Better, consider the following ongoing enlistment idea for the year:

Bigger and Better with Bubbles (Older Preschoolers)

Items Needed: One bottle of bubbles per preschooler, one large bubble maker, and a plastic mat for the floor.

Items Needed: One bottle of bubbles per preschooler, one large bubble maker, and a plastic mat for the floor.

Annual Enlistment Idea: Encourage preschoolers to bring a friend (or friends) to Mission Friends. During the Group Time of Mission Friends, talk to the older preschoolers about inviting a friend to one of the weekly meetings. Share with them that this may be one of their friends who is in the church and does not currently attend Mission Friends, or, it may one of their friends from the community. When they bring this friend, all preschoolers get a bottle of bubbles to take home with them. And, at some point, while preschoolers are involved in visiting Interest Areas, everyone will get a turn in the area with water play. While in that area, they will get to play with their bottle of bubbles and they also may have a turn to make huge bubbles with the large bubble maker. The leader would introduce the preschooler during water play and would say, “Everything is bigger and better with Mission Friends! Everything is better and bigger with bubbles! Everyone make bubbles!”

Keep a supply of small bottles of bubbles in your supply closet, as well as additional liquid needed for the large bubble maker. Each time a new preschooler comes to Mission Friends, the entire class will celebrate with bubbles! The Mission Friends Teacher should follow up with the family of these new preschoolers either by phone call, email or personal note. She should also make sure that the preschooler is added to the Mission Friends enrollment.

Training and Leadership

Training and Leadership

Make sure that you have the most current training available to be an effective Mission Friends Teacher. Opportunities for training can be found at your respective associational fall training meeting, South Carolina WMU Church Leadership Training events, online training, or a one-on-one consultation type of training. Training is always needed. A Mission Friends Teacher who has served in their position of leadership for numerous years needs training just as a new leader needs training. Yearly attendance at a training event or session provides a freshness of ideas, an opportunity for idea exchange, and the opportunity to learn the most current information about Mission Friends. Training leads to growth in an individual’s life. Growth makes for an effective leader. Are you prepared each week as a leader? Are you an effective leader? Are you a loving leader? Are young minds seeing you model what it means to love all the peoples of the world?

Are You Meeting the Needs of Your Target Audience?

Are You Meeting the Needs of Your Target Audience?

Your target audience is preschoolers and their parents. Is your Mission Friends organization offered at the best time for your parents and preschoolers? Do your meetings start on time? Are the Mission Friends classes in a location of the church that is safe and secure for preschoolers? Is the space you are using conducive to their physical and mental development? Remember, organizations must meet at times and places that people (preschoolers, parents, and caregivers) can attend and offer many avenues of missions involvement.
