CLU / CLUID “White Paper” 5
Issue: The restricted availability of permanent third-party field identification that enables a common reference point to all production ag service providers to communicate crop detail. Solution? AgGateway is interested in the USDA CLUID because of the permanent nature of this specific GUID-based field identifier. o Push for a change in the classification of the USDA CLUID? o Push for the ease of access to the USDA CLUID by the farmer?

Glossary 7
Purpose Statement Purpose: Create a comprehensive “production agriculture glossary” o Why? Today various definitions to the same term or phrase, or the creation a new term or phrase for specific situations within production agriculture create communication challenges. o Why? The lack of a comprehensive “production agriculture” glossary has been an impediment to efficient and effective communication between disparate technologies and software. o Why? To help create clarity in the production agriculture industry around the interpretation of various terms in order to stimulate ecommerce, electronic data exchange, and faster adoption of precision ag technologies and services. Goal: Develop a one-stop location for agriculture “term and acronym” definitions that can be used by all segments of production agriculture for the express purpose of supporting accurate communication and improving understanding between the various segments of production agriculture. eBusiness Without Walls . . .
