Upper Susquehanna Coalition Shrub and Tree Planting New Berlin, NY April 20 - 24, 2015
What is it: The USC wetland team and partners The Wetland Trust will be kicking off a multi-year floodplain restoration project at a 110 acre property in Chenango County along the banks of the Unadilla River. With Over 9,000 shrubs to plant in April, we need your help! The site, formerly Riverbend Golf Course, will be restored to include >50 acres of scrub-shrub, emergent, and forested wetlands. Upland areas will be managed for grassland species including monarch butteflies and bobolinks. Bald eagles and ospreys frequent the area and on-site facilities are to become the focal point of hellbender restoration efforts in the NY portion of the Susquehanna River Basin.
Where is it: 118 Golf Course Rd, New Berlin New York When is it: Monday-Friday April 20- 25, 2015 (8 a.m.–5 p.m.) – Come when you can (registration details below).
Why you should come: A great opportunity for exercise after a long winter, to become better with acqainted members of the Upper Susquehanna Coalition. On site bathroom facilities, power, campsites (indoor & out), and stocked fishing ponds await for anyone interested in an overnight stay. Lunch will be provided.
