P ra c tic a l C h ristia n ity is th e ap p licatio n in all th e affairs of life, of th e doctrine of Jesus C hrist. I t explains how m an m ay come into con scious relatio n s w ith th e F a th e r, and w h a t J e sus m ean t w hen he said: “ God is S p irit; and th ey th a t w orship him m ust w orship in sp irit an d tr u th .”—Jo h n 4, 24. R. V. I t explains th e s p iritu a l Being- of M an and h is re la tio n to soul and body. I t explains th e actio n of th e m ind, and how it is th e connecting- lin k betw een God and m an; also how m ind action affects th e body, produc ing- discord or harm ony, sickness or h ealth . I t show s w h a t th e facu lties of m an are, th e ir re la tio n and how to develop them , as sym bol ized by th e type-m an, Jesu s C hrist, and his tw elve disciples. “ W e have th e m ind of C h rist.”— 1 Cor. 2:16. I t explains w h y a failu re to bring- fo rth these faculties, or th e ir m isuse, is a falling- sh o rt of th e G od-idea, th e “ imag*e and lik en ess,” and w hich falling- sh o rt is sin.

I t explains how m an h as th u s fallen sh o rt and b ro u g h t upon him self sin, sickness, poverty, sorrow and d eath . I t show s how all these conditions can be over come and a new relatio n estab lish ed betw een th e C reator and th e created. I t explains in a ra tio n al, com prehensive w ay th e m ission of Jesu s C hrist, th e atonem ent he m ade for us, and how we m ay tak e ad v an tag e of it. It in te rp re ts th e S crip tu res as a w hole and show s th em to be a w onderful rev elatio n to m an, ex p lain in g h is o rig in , h is developm ent an d h is destiny. I t b rid g es th e g u lf betw een science and re lig io n and show s th e N ew T e sta m e n t to be an arcan u m of th e su b tle forces u n d e rly in g all m anifest life, and w hich are now being d is covered by th e advanced schools of. physical science. I t solves all th e problem s of existence and b rin g s m an in to u n d e rsta n d in g of D ivine L aw , harm ony, h e a lth , and peace, here and now. I t is pure C h ristia n ity and proves itself to be such by th e sig n s w hich follow its exposition, as prom ised in M ark 16:17, 18 and 20. I t ad m its and accepts th e tr u th th a t is ex pressed in any system of relig io n , b u t does not confine itse lf to any set creed or dogm a, or to any fixed nam e or o rg an izatio n . I t accepts th e G ospel of Jesu s C h rist as th e h ig h e s t g iv en to m an, and recognizes b u t one source of rev elatio n for th a t G ospel: “ Even th e S p irit of T r u th —w hich is th e H oly G host,

w hom th e F a th e r w ill send in m y nam e, he sh a ll teach you a ll th in g s, and b rin g all th in g s to y our rem em brance w hatsoever I have said unto y o u .”—Jo h n 14 26. . Its disciples seek to fu lfill all th e com m ands of C h rist: “ P re a c h th e G ospel,” and “ H eal th e sick, cleanse th e lepers, raise th e dead, cast out devils: freely }’e have received, freely g iv e .” M a tt 10:8; because th e y accept lite ra lly his prophecy and prom ise: “ H e th a t believeth on me, th e th in g s th a t I do sh a ll he do also; and g re a te r w orks th a n these sh all he d o .”—Jo h n 14:12.
